I build my own system just last week. see the photos attached: L shaped aluminum profiles bolted to the floor, haefele drawer slides bolted to them, on which the aluminum frame runs in which the boxes sit. pretty easy and very cheap (under 200$ including the boxes).
fyi, next I will put in a platform running from window sill to window sill. this covers the cargo area and one can sleep on it (had it before, works like a treat). this is why I can stack the boxes.
the trick is to decide first on your boxes and then build the system around them.
hope this helps someone, all the best, cheers, axel
Here's a couple of snaps of my black widow setup, is strong looks good and tidy. But it would not be easily removed and this does impact on the versatility of the load space for large/ long objects or seating. The carpet used to line the unit is rather slippery and a bit at odds with the hose out utilitarian nature of the vehicle.
Sorry couldn't help myself, built my false floor on the weekend out of 2.5mm Ali plate. I still have a couple of things to finish up, but all pretty good with fit... It takes three plastic fishing tubs...
in my last email I was talking about how I will continue with my storage system. here comes the update:
*) the platform sits on 20mm square steel tubes
*) there are no cross members which means: take off the top boards and the cargo area is fully available (but not the space over the wheel arches)
*) all sections can be lifted lifted up to access the gear from the inside ... and screwed down for saftey when offroading
*) the fridge (right behind the passenger seat) is of the same height and is easily accessible as well.
the finishing touches will be glueing the lining where not done yet and adjusing the height of single platform segments.
