    Is AirCon + 2 batteries in one box possible?

    Gidday everyone,
    Before I get to the reason for this post, a disclaimer first. I have had a good look through all of the old posts that I could find and I couldn't find what I was looking for. So apologies if it is there and I have missed it. I have found photos of battery boxes without the A/C bits and pieces in there and the 2 batteries look as if they have been shoehorned in.
    What I would like to know is has anyone out there managed to squeeze 2 decent sized non spillable batteries (AGM or GEL) under the passenger seat of a defender (without cutting and modifying the floor pan), that also has the A/C fuses and relays in there as well. If anyone out the in AULRO land has, I would love to hear from you as to what batteries etc you have used and possibly get some photos as well.

    This is what my battery box looks like with a Projecta 150amp Isolator, AGM 12v 120ha Deep cycle battery cannot remember the brand or size of the starter battery.

    But I have all a/c fuses and relays still in there in front of the orange AGM battery.

    The guy at battery world told me I would never get the AGM battery to fit ..

    Its a tight fit but it works good luck and hope this helps.

    I fitted in the standard battery which came with the vehicle new , plus a 550cca battery with ioslation switches and not moving the standard aircon wiring in any way.
    the batteries were turned though 90 degrees to the normal direction and a plate placed over the depression in the bottom of the battery box so the batteries would sit flat.

    Thankyou for the quick reply and piccies. Another couple of questions if you don't mind. Did you move the relys and fuses for the A/C? Mine are on the same side as the projector isolator in your pictures. Basically where your century battery is tight up against the drivers side wall of the battery box. This is where I was having trouble as nothing would fit in. It doesn't look as if you have a battery tray or tie down points either. Are the batteries just held tight, as they are jammed in? And finally can you remember what make your AGM battery is? Thanks very much for your help

    Thanks for that info. Any chance you remember what brand batteries they are? I have been looking at all different makes and models but the height clearance will be a problem from what I can make out. I see that some members put a piece of rubber on the battery box lid to stop any arcing out if the terminals come into contact with it, but I would rather have a goodly amount of clearance instead.

    I have an Alco/Ritar AGM second battery under the passenger seat box with 300TDI fuses in their original position. I use ratchet straps to secure the batteries down and have heavy rubber matting between the tops of the terminals and the top panel.

    It's tight, but can be done. Sorry, away from my vehicle so can't get you pics.

    Heres a few more pics to answer your questions..As she's off the road at the moment getting some repairs so its to get some pics at the moment.

    I did move the relays and fuses and they were in the same postion as were yours would be now.As you can see from these pics the fuses are now in front of the deep cycle.

    I have no tie downs or tray, all I have is a piece of 5mm rubber between both batteries and its very tight, they dont move at all.I had alot of fun trying to fit this and alot of colourful words were said ..

    This is the brand of the AGM and the starter last hope these help mate..

    I think almost everyone on here with a 'fender has two batteries shoe horned in there some way or another.
    I have two 640CCA calcium/calcium batteries stuck under there with all the OE relays and the battery isolator.

    Have one going across, (the front one) the other lengthways in the box with the posts reversed on each battery so the earths are the closest to or under any metal bits. They are Super Charge Gold's, model #'s MF80D26R & L

    Thankyou very much for the effort. It is very much appreciated. I can get the dimensions for the batteries off the web so at least I know for sure what will fit in that little space now.
