Tune gone wrong on my Tdi.

Well I dropped the deefer in to bosch to have the pump spec's checked and the plunger lift was way out,1.2mm when factory spec is 1.54mm.Anyway the change was made and it's totally wrong for my engine, the thing sounded like the crank was trying to jump out,the diesel knock was really bad and as soon as the D/gas clicked on she started pinging so back she went this morning and it was reset to 1.26mm and even at that she has a little rattle. All I can think of is that it's been assembled slightly out or it's worn, either way I'm not going back to factory spec's and once again I learned my lesson when it comes to my vehicle and that is leave it alone, the only time she gives me a hard time is when she's fiddled with.Big thanks to JC,I PM him for a little info and got a quick reply so big thanks.I also had the stop screw turned in a full turn and it just made smoke,it wouldn't even drive out my driveway this morning, losts of smoke and no power so it's back to normal. All up an interesting exercise, except for the bill. Pat

Sorry for the hijack Pat. That seems very strange. Was the DGas shut off completely for the initial tests???

Very interesting. I was thinking of taking my 300Tdi in to have new injectors and the pump calibrated purely because the difference it made on my 200Tdi was night and day. But maybe it isn't wise to rock the boat in the absence of any other problems...?

I'm really regretting touching it now,if I floor the peddle in any gear it starts making a put put sound. The trouble with them it seams is the cam profile in the pump is quite aggressive so it doesn't take much to be out. Pat
