There has been a lot of discussion on here about the availability of Perenties, and a search would find it. But to summarise - while a replacement has been decided, to date virtually none have been sold so far and it will be another year or more before any are likely to come on the market.

There are a very few around, but because of their scarcity they tend to be very expensive compared to the equivalent civilian ones. Until the replacements start coming in, the army has generally refurbished ones that have reached their use by date, and mostly the only ones to reach civilian hands are ones deemed to be beyond economic repair as the result of an accident.

Better value is likely in a civilian one, and there are a lot more to choose form.

John exactly the case with WOLF variants in the U.K. the MOD haven't released any and the only ones available are copies(why would you bother?) and right offs that have been repaired to sell but saying that they are not necessarily repaired to REME workshop standards and again not necessarily repaired by the army at all, so god only knows what you are buying.
And i think it may well be a long time before they start coming through due to the tightening of belts due to the hit from the recession in the U.K.

Out of curiosity, what are they replacing them with? Is it the Bushmasters? Surely they will still have to have a light vehicle similar to the Perenties as well.

Definitely G-Wagen, in 4x4 and 6x6 variants including modular load carrier (euro pallet) and troop carrier. MB may bring out the G-Wagen into Aust in a basic commercial spec as well the luxo barge that they currenly flog in the middle east (can anyone say "Five-litre-supercharged-V8-in-a-proper-4wd" without closing their eyes?) relax, the price being proposed is in the range of $90-$120k, so any post TDCi Defender will have plenty of competition when they finally work out how much they can charge for an "enthusiast's vehicle".

The number of times I had to push those things around with only one wheel, up hills, full of jerry cans etc, you'd think I'd never want to see another one again.

i could never work out the relevence of doing that.....considering the trailer was mostly always empty and the spare tyre would always be at the top of the hill
