Thread: Washer jet - Replacement/removal

Use a screwdriver(s) to prise the jet part of the new whasher nozzle from the stalk. Do the same with the nozzle fitted to the vehicle. Then just push the new nozzle on the remaining part. I did this when I had to replace the washer nozzle on my 90. Works a treat and no messing with trying to get to the nut.
IIRC I used two screwdiers carefully to prise the nozzle part from the stalk part.

Excellent, mine is blocked with dirt, and I'd love to be able to strip it to clean it with compressed air.

The washer jet is the very first thing installed when assembling a firewall - it is buried between the wiper cable and the dash holding bracket. I hope you don't have to remove your crash pad (dashtop) as access even then is still difficult.



I took a pic when re-building my Defender which shows the position and limited access from the outside.



As mentioned above, these are made in several pieces and can be prised apart. It all depends where it broke - easily done by standing on them.

Yup it works. I replaced with a new washer jet but actually didnt need to cause once u have the nozzle part off u can clean it. I found all the bits of needle that broke off in there.

Just used a small flathead screwdriver to initially prise the nozzle away from the spout then followed with a larger screwdriver to pop it off the raised rim.

To get better access (window gutter in the way) to washer jet on vehicle I just turned it 90 degrees.

The new nozzle I used was Britpart AMR3025.

Once it stops raining here I'm going to run out and pop mine off!
I have put up with blocked jets for probably 5 years now, blown them out with compressed air, but it only moves the dirt back into the tube somwhere so it blocks again soon after.

Its all good mate just had major service (120K) done at Fred Smiths. And front right hub was completely dry no grease just powdered rust, CV also chewed out. So got all 4 hubs converted to oil lubed and got Hytuff rear axles and flanges. Got EGR bypass kit on the way as well.

Did the EGR sleeving work out for you?
