    Exclamation Rear Locker

Hi, has anyone put a TrueTrac LSD [or air locker] in a current model 130 with rear diff from P38?
I tried a Detroit Locker and it was so noisy on over-run had to have it removed - no-one knew why.
I had one in my previous 1996 130 and it was a gem.
    Cheers

What sort of noise on overrun? it may of been bad set up, when you removed, did they remove the locker part and retain that particular crown wheel and pinion?

Time to find a new installer
The Detroit locker has nothing to do with the noises in the differential, especially on overrun. The set up is wrong.

Thanks for interest. Locker installed by Bayswater Diffs as recommended by locker distributors Locked Drive. They know their business and tried all they could think of. Detroit Locker removed and diff back to standard and loud whine disappeared.

Thanks.Locker installed by Bayswater Diffs as recommended by Locked Drive the distributors. They are very experienced and could not solve the problem. When locker was removed so was the noise. Ergo the Detroit Locker was the culprit.

    Very strange

When driving in a strait line power on or over run the only touching moving parts are the crown wheel and pinion. Both which came from you original dif and i assume that you have back in your dif now.

Noise on over run or a wine from the dif, or any gear for that matter. Is when the wear faces are not lined up correctly? This can be an easy job or a real bustard depending on the weather and Murphy or if you got a bit that night.

The only thing I can think of is if the clearance between the carrier bearings was a bit lose, under load every thing was ok but on over run it moved the carrier a bit off center?

Thanks. All I know is there was no noise. Detroit locker fitted noise appears. Detroit removed and noise disappears. I have every confidence in the fitter Bayswater Diffs who tried several things without success. They too do not know the reason. Locked Drive refunded the cost as they also could not provide an answer. Too expensive to try again and so looking for anyone who has had experience fitting an LSD or different locker to this diff. Cheers.

Shouldn;t be an issue what so ever, maybe it was a faulty locker, did they put a dial indicator on the crown face and check for runout? Ovality? this would cause issues/noise etc

I'd get another locker, there has to of been a reason
