    Re Roofing

Can a Series 3 roof fit a 110? The additional inch is in the wheel base. Do I only have to make modes at the leading edge of the roof to accommodate the taller screen? I have the full S3 truck / van roof, sides and back door with wheel carrier and expect to get a rag top 110. Is the operation worthwhile?

I don't know exactly what was done but there's a 110 County in town with a Series roof ... Defender rear doors, Series rear side windows and ... well it's a mongrel. So the answer is: yes it is possible.

From memory it was a little short.

I know a County that has a series roof and windscreen setup on it. I dont think there is any difference in length. All the doors and pillars are original.

No as the windscreens are differant shape. And the roof is longer . Not only are the wheel base is longer but there is more room in the cab of a 110 , same as a 90 , so this makes the roof longer . Not by alot but it is longer

Not correct. The only difference in dimensions of the roof is in the fitting round the windscreen. The windscreen is higher on the 110, and the roof is shaped differently to fit it.

The 110 body is identical in dimensions to the Series 2/3 109, but both front and rear axles are further back, the rear axle an inch more than the front. All doors are interchangeable between models, as are all major body panels above the waistline (below the waistline they are not because the wheel arches are in different places). The same does NOT apply to the 90, which has a longer body than the 88 as well as a longer wheelbase (four inches longer not one inch as with the 110).

So it is quite possible to fit a Series 3 roof. This, however, would require significant modification to fit the 110 windscreen, probably quite feasible for a skilled sheet metal worker, or alternatively, fitting the Series 3 windscreen. Fitting 110 hinges to the windscreen would not present much trouble, but you would have to convert it to a single glass to allow the full sweep of wipers, and you could have problems getting it engineered due to the reduced windscreen area (whether it is a problem depends on how tall you are).

Thanks JDNSW, I want to keep the 110 windscreen, so will have to do work at the leading edge of the S3 roof. I have the full S3 roof, sides, rear door with wheel carrier plus the rear widows. Its good that I'll be able to use them all on the 110.

Red October on here has a 110 county with a Series 3 roof and 110 windscreen. However it had the front of a rolled/damaged 110 roof grafted onto it so it would bolt to the windscreen.
