How many km does your Puma engine have? POLL

Since the other thread has been ruined by a bunch of non Puma owners, I thought a poll may be better. Especially since we seem to have a reasonable number of Puma owners on here...

I have voted 50,000+ and some engine work needed.. EDIT: oops sorry I misread there is one there for me I will see if it is possible for a super mod to change my vote

However I needed a new engine so I'm not sure whether thats acurate.

In regards to the new engine I'm a strong believe in that if something breaks or wears in your car and you dont change it, it has a knock on effect of other components whether minor or major if not dealt with....I had an issues with my car that was allowed to go on for over a year, I feel because of that this had a detrimental effect on my engine to the point where I think we would of always been chasing the knock on effect faults.

Had my fault been recognised/rectified quicker (this is not a plug at the dealer but actually land rover UK tech themselves) I feel quite possibly an engine may of not been needed.
I don't think I needed a new engine simply because the engine is ****...I just feel its an accumulation of things including the water in the fuel that caused that engine to have an endless problem

They can pop in, but they only have one vote each... (so hopefully can't affect the results).

    Thanks DB et al!

DB - what exactly went wrong with your engine - is there a thread on it I missed???

no you remember the engine rattle that I took so long to prove.....it became a daily occurrence and would do it more than once engine started going into limp mode twice a week....it was becoming hard to drive because of this

the patch to fix only came out I think 2 weeks before my new engine then it was quarentined and then released again.
I'm glad the dealer put our case forward for the engine...(they did it without asking) as I feel that our engine had taken quite a bit of punishment due to that rattle and the water in the fuel...as I dont believe anyone had that rattle quite exteremly as we did

its still not clear exactly what was going down with the engine but it was suggested towards the end possible stuck oil jets which I think deprives the engine of oil in the first instance of starting up)..however this was not confirmed.

26 000Km. Although a few mostly niggly warranty problems it was the replacing of the vacuum pump (very quickly and without any dramas) that put me in the 25-50 K with repairs column.

I had the vac pump issue and also currently have a faulty EGR valve but I don't count these as show stoppers. The most significant thing engine wise would be the hole worn in the intercooler hose.

I must say, I find it funny how people tone down mechanical faults
