    Smile Defender 130 TD5 255/85 plus rims

    Hi Guys

I know this is an ongoing saga but I need to come up with a decision.

What would you say? Is is worth to fit 255/85/16 tyres?
What offset do I need for the rims so that the wheels do not scrub?
Which steelies brand and size can you recommend?
Are there any other modifications necessary?

    Thanks for your expertise

depends on what your doing but no, not really.
    +15mm
havent had to yet but you could try sunraisia's
you will need to widen the flares to keep it legal but mechanically you should be ok.

ill be able to let you know tomorrow or monday.
Having that size tyre in BFG MT fitted to wolf rims. They are 20mm offset and look nice - even though they are still in the boxes

    Hi
FWIW - l run 255/85 on Boost Alloys on my TD5 110 - no offset, no scrubbing, no worries??

Have had them on Defender steeleis to....without a worry.

Not saying that an offset wouldn't be helpful, but this is the perfect size for a Defender.....

    Cheers,

We're running 255/85 muddies on standard steel disco rims and haven't had any issues, although you may need to adjust your steering stops

    Hi Michael
    thanks for the reply.
What tyre brand can you recommend?
Did you notice any change in the overall performance? Accelaration? Brake capability?

    Cheers

I've got a set of maxxis bighorn on my 130 on std disco rims, had to adjust the steering stops and there is a bit of rubbing on the rear spring top bracket on full articulation, ive just cleamed odd any sharp bits and besides the polished/rusty look there seem to be no problems. Just be cautios of parking garages as they list the vehicle a fair bit.
