    Squealing brakes.... any ideas

Just replace all 4 brakes on my 110 1999 td5 and the brakes have started squeeling on light applications of the pedel.

Im using the bendix pads. They have heaps of grip and a much nicer feel then what ever was in there..... but they make a horrible noise with light braking

    Any ideas?

Have you put copper grease on the back of the pads or nickle anti seize will work also

It stops the very slight movement of the pad.

Or your disk's have a glaze on them and need a slight skim

I had the same problem with my SIII Stage 1 with discs on the rear.
As it turns out, the fellow who re-built the brakes didn't put in the anti-squeal shims in the rear calipers. These are shims that are the shape of the pads but have a cut-out in then the size of half the piston. He left them off because he couldn't get them at the time. When they arrived, I put them between the piston and pad and the squeal from the back brakes has never returned.

    regards
    Mick
