    I was actually told that you should be able to hear them spin down, because that is the point of a centrifugal filter in that they spin. If you can not then there is a problem and it is probablly jamming against the housing. I only use genuine and every genuine one I have used you can hear spin down. A couple of the aftermarket ones I could not hear spin down.

    I am used to the sound of the "wind down" on turning the motor off, and after a dealer service, came home to find a scraping sound on wind down. Took it back, and they replaced it with a new one. Apparently the tolerances are very tight on them. If any unusual noise is present, time to change.
