Don't be too hard on yourself and Captain_Rightfoot, as one of my neighbours have a spare ute to tow their caravan. They also have a tinny, jetski and motorbike. From my experience they probably use each about once a year. Daily drivers are a small hatchback for him and a medium sized sedan for her.
Not a bad solution. Ripe for electrification of the dailys.

The FIAT is project, intended to be moved on to someone younger and richer than me. The FIAT shell was going to be crushed, And they are getting so rare I simply couldn't let it happen. I rescued it for posterity, and I really couldn't afford to do so. But someone will give it love.

The OKA will eventually be my home from home. I will have it on Club Permit plates, although insurance doesn't change, but I will also put the D2 on club.

I'm not being hard on anyone. I was merely pointing out that people have different needs, and incomes. What works for your neighbour won't work for me. My son has a GQ Patrol, his wife has a Y62, and he drives a N60 (?) petrol Hilux to work. They have a massive camper trailer and a speed boat and numerous motorcycles. Sure, they need the cars, and they work to pay for them.

For me, the D2 is what I need. Sure, I'm now single and it's a silly car for one person, but I no longer do high ks on a daily basis, but I DO tow heavy stuff, and I DO get off road when poss. I don't fit the good Captain's definition of insanity, and I clearly don't have his disposable income.

I have absolutely no issue with his choices, or yours. But you can't just make blanket statements based on your own priorities, as they aren't mine. And mine have changed again lately. Cancer will do that.
However, if you want to help me move the D1 and SIII on I'm open to negotiations

Sorry, I can't help with the Fiat, D1 or SIII, as I like wagons and have had four of them. I bought the D3 as IMO it is a car for for all seasons being 4wd, as big as a van inside and a technological masterpiece. Good on you for saving those cars and I hope they go to a good home.

Typical forum thread, off on a tangent, now who is going to get back on track to EV chatter.

I quite like the Edison Motors setup of big generator to recharge big battery while having the electric diffs.

A D3/D4 would be a good beast to put electric motors in place of the diffs and being chassis/inboard mounted should last longer than the diff mounted live axle setups.

But these conversions are so costly unless you have play money or a business case forget it.
