Globally people can do more good at lowering emissions by stopping breeding!

One kid per couple…. Over time population will reduce and less emissions EV general discussion

And then, let’s cut life extending surgery for people over 70…. That’ll solve another heap of the over population… EV general discussion

It’ll also require less cars to be produced, less trucks… problem solved.

I hope Aulro members over 70 are not included on that list.

Yes exactly. Every litre of petrol burned generates 2.31 KG of co2. A litre of diesel 2.7. One KG of Co2 is a bit over half a cubic metre depending on temperature. There aint no caves anywhere big enough to un-duck this mess.

We are lucky in Australia though.. we don't really have cities that are too prone to air quality issues so we tend to not worry about it. But when the auto makers were confronted with a problem (their products were causing real air problems) they came up with solutions. I would like to state though it's not all roses.. ie dieselgate, and performance of emissions systems on startup and anywhere outside of the parameters of the emissions test.. but I digress.

BYD Atto 1 from 23999 drive away and an Atto2 not to much more. People have been crying out for cheap EV's. Now we're going to see if people will actually buy them.

    Just a moment...

EDIT: I don't know what's happening with the link thing but the above is a link to an article with prices..

Here is another one. IMHO they have sufficient range for many city dwellers. Enough to get to the coast and back on a hot day.

So how much CO2 do 1 million people exhale? The Governmnt has allowed more than that number to enter Australia in the last couple of years. Policy a bit stupid?

I don't think we count exhaled co2 in the targets.

But.. all the other stuff people use is. I think we've imported around 1.5 million people since 2022. All that extra everything will not be helping our emissions total.

It’s like that reported dataset you linked above.

Emissions from steel was down - Yep, our furnace was stone cold for half a year!

In that time they (retailers) imported significantly higher volumes from
    china - carbon shifting!

Change the policy. Allow them in but don't let them exhale.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
