I can't remember the model of the Corvette but it is one of those tricked up models like a Callaway or something, offers similar performance to Ferrari and although he paid an absolute motza for the Corvette...up around the Ferrari pricing...people he meets , like me don't consider him in the same league as those that drive their Ferraris and Maseratis (and Lambos) through Lygon St on fri and sat nights.
If you buy an Italian exotic buy a bloody big tool box at the same time. Most are not in any way daily drivers needing much maintenance and repair. You work on them all week so you can drive them on Sunday. I had a Ferrari 212 Export which cured me of Italian exotica for life. I traded it on a Corvette. Grease, oil, and filter changes were all it needed. Started every time and drove no fuss in traffic and hot weather. Went like a race car. Not after the second or third run when the Corvette is still laying down its 0-100 times but the old Tes has run out of puff.

Your Corvette sounds like it was a great car. Never owned one myself, but I like pretty much every model, "Spirit Of America" is how I feel about them. Did you ever watch the TV Show "Route 66"?...

Entry model $85,000, so not a great threat to i20 and its peers.

Yep, and that's only with the "optional performance package".

But it's going to be electric in any case:

Two executives involved in the project told CNBC that the latest coupe will be followed by a convertible — and even more dramatic changes are in the works. The new platform underpinning the C8 was specifically designed to be able to use battery-based technology, they said, adding that it will included a battery boost system to improve launch acceleration as well as a battery-based all-wheel drive system.

Have to say that it now looks like a sports car.
