BMW is recalling 720,796 vehicles due to an issue involving a faulty seal on the water pump, which may cause a fire.
The recall spans 12 models from the 2012 to 2018 model years, including the Z4 convertible; the 2-,3-,4-, and 5-series; and the X1, X3, X4, and X5 SUVs.
BMW has already begun notifying dealers, and owners are expected to be notified starting in early October.
BMW has ordered a recall of 720,796 vehicles spanning numerous models because they may catch fire. The issue is said to stem from a faulty seal on the water pump, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

Reading stuff like this does give me a rather comforting feeling. Yes us Land Rover owners are not alone with car issues. Now if JLR could remember where they stashed all those recall letters we'd be elected !

    So who knows their BMWs?
What's the common motor across that lot?
Although there could be a common water pump across an engine family.

If that is US based then they will all be petrol engines in both 4 and 6 cylinder.
