BMW Recalls Nearly 721,000 Cars and SUVs Due to a Fire Risk
The recall stems from a faulty water pump and impacts 2012–2018 models such as the 3- and 5-series as well as the X3 and X5.

BMW is recalling 720,796 vehicles due to an issue involving a faulty seal on the water pump, which may cause a fire.
The recall spans 12 models from the 2012 to 2018 model years, including the Z4 convertible; the 2-,3-,4-, and 5-series; and the X1, X3, X4, and X5 SUVs.
BMW has already begun notifying dealers, and owners are expected to be notified starting in early October.
BMW has ordered a recall of 720,796 vehicles spanning numerous models because they may catch fire. The issue is said to stem from a faulty seal on the water pump, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
The recall covers multiple cars and SUVs in BMW's lineup, ranging from the 2012 to 2018 model years. The list of impacted models includes the Z4 convertible; certain 2-,3-,4-, and 5-series cars; and certain X1, X3, X4, and X5 SUVs.
