It's a song you'll love or hate - looking at what most listen to hear, I'm guessing the latter for most. :D

The story of the last letter, from Dale Duncan

Published on Oct 9, 2015
A TRUE STORY - A truck driver rings his wife to tell her, he'll be home in a few hours and can't wait to see her. After six hours and still not home the wife calls the police and they search for the truck driver. Two days later the police find his body and the smashed up rig. The driver is pinned under the cab of the truck but next to the deceased driver is a note. You see, the truck driver had lived for a number of hours before his horrific injuries took over and he passed away. He had found a piece of paper and a pen and wrote down everything that he wanted to tell his wife and kids knowing that he would never see them again. The note was passed on to me and together with one of Australia's finest songs writer's we came up with this song

When I am in my cups, and looking for a safe place in this crazy World , I often turn to misericordia. Any one who has been to the Phillipines, and met a Spanish Lady, will know. Take me away, Spanish Lady.

Misericordia is the Latin for "mercy", derived from misericors, "merciful", which is in turn derived from misereri, "to pity", and cor, "heart". In Medieval Latin, the word "misericordia" denoted various merciful things, and these senses were borrowed into English (AHD).

My ancient history teacher had 'breathless' by The Corrs as her ringtone. Always yelling at us if we did anything with our phones but would walk straight out of the classroom to answer hers. Final term I switched my ringtone to the same song and would have people randomly call me. We thought it was funny as hell, oddly enough she didn't.

Here's another cover. U2's In the name of love. Dierks Bentley with the Punch Brothers. An unlikely mix of musicians, but I think the result is good. I like the picking through the track, especially at the end.

I don't know anything about fishing. the bottom line of the tune is that when you get to the last day of your life and you look back, and you see how many hours you've spent in traffic-jams, pushing and shoving, how many hours you've spent elbowing people out of the way and being elbowed out of the way; You just think to yourself I wish I had all them hours back, cos I may as well have gone fishing...

From the early 80s until the advent of cd burners I made a collection of mixed tapes ( about 60) to keep myself entertained whilst driving around the back country of NSW for work. The other night I started recreating these mixed tapes as spotify playlists five tapes at a time. I've got a pretty good hit rate with songs being in spotify that are on the tapes with only a few of the more obscure ones not available. That's keeping me entertained hearing songs that I had forgotten about. If you are into spotify have a look here: Top Songs 16-20 on Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/user/rathluba1860/playlist/1DTKQiSFLEp3pgUa9VM3SJ'si=2rxZlDRtQiuqTorAkvw4Kg)

I was prepared to be pretty cynical but Dave Gleeson's vocals add a new dimension to the Album and it is most definitely worth a listen for all of those of us who have vague and patchy memories of seeing Doc and the boys perform in pubs and RSLs across Australia.

Dua Lipa's I D G A F as it reminds me off some of the people I work with. Don't worry you can play it on speaker, as she doesn't swear in it.

I love them. The Queenslanders of the northern hemisphere, I reckon. The fact that they defeated the Russians, when they invaded their country, back before WW2, shows they have a bit of mongrel, essential ingredient in any Queenslander. [thumbsupbig]
