Being totally selfish here. Thinking about our early family, when the Scotsman Purdey. married my Great grandmother, indigenous lady from ALPHA area, story goes he fought for the South during the American civil war, then went whaling, jumped ship in Newcastle, made his way to Mount Morgan, no gold, worked in the cattle industry, the rest is history. Whenever I think of him I think of this song. As I said purely selfish.

This was my favourite track right from the start and it still is - and its also the longest song at nearly 16mins long. Harry Belafonte, one of my enduring memories of my time on HMAS Vampire was a kellick stoker who transferred from the RN. He had a magnificent voice, and a full book of songs, some printable, most not. When in refit at Williamstown, and all points after, we hung out at a local pub, and George kept us enthralled with his voice. George Ballard, legend, three badge kellick stoker, ended up after leaving the service on the old COLAC, running the boiler for tank cleans. No longer with us, except every time I hear Belafonte

Been listening to quite a bit of QOTSA, Faith no More etc on the bike commute lately but on the weekends when its time to clean and maintain I have been listening to a lot of ELO, Elton John, Kinks, Supertramp, Steve Miller Band.

I'm not of the age when I was growing up that this music was playing on road trips, hanging out with mates at BBQ's etc (that was more Nirvana etc) but have great memories of being in the back of the car with the parents on holidays listening to the above.

Very much hoping to catch Dom Dolla live at Spilt Milk next month. In the meantime I've had this cranking from his set at Tomorrowland - power went off on his stage for 20 minutes - he entertained the crowd with stories and drinking games while the power was restored - very well received by all accounts and he's an Aussie playing on the big stages around the world. Hello All,

A bit of Aussie talent - Mondo Rock - A State of the Heart. I had a girlfriend who was a teacher. I was working in a bakery. "She worked in town ... I work at night. This leaves us from 6 until 7 to work things out"

We didn't ... However, that turned out okay.

There were other fish in the sea.

However, it was an important song at the time. The other song that related to the same person was a Dire Straits song Hand in Hand. Lyrics being "you and me go parallel - together and apart and you keep your perfect distance and it's tearing at my heart"

Hmmm gee the writing was on the wall wasn't it - teehee!

firstly, who is in lockdown and why?

I'm trying to listen to anything that doesn't involve covid19

Pink Floyd is good , Enigma cleans the soul , good blues opens the soul.

Wow, he didn't look or sound well in that video from a couple of years ago.

I've always liked Pat Benetar's version, released on Crimes of Passion, I'm pretty certain she sung it live when we saw her in Sydney in the mid 2000s
