Just wondering who else has ordered one?
I have put a dipper down on a 90 Adventure and have been told by Austral in Brisbane it will be between $55K-$58K which I think is quite good value considering what you get compered with the standard 90.
So what has everyone ordered and what price did the dealer quote?
Be interesting to know the prices around the Country!

Not much is being said about them in Aus is there?
How recently did you do this, I thought they were all "taken" months ago?

What date did they give for delivery? Don't know much about the availability of the Adventure model, look good though. I do know that the demand for them was less than the Heritage in the UK so maybe there are a few left, but the allocation for Australia was pretty thin on the ground for most of the limited editions. Hope you get it!

By all accounts I got the last one, now that could be salesman talk I don't know!
I was in talks with Autral and Lyntons on the Gold Coast, the girl at Lyntons was hopeless and very rarely returned calls or emails even after I went in one day! She did say in one of her emails that she hadn't got back to me for a few days as she'd been to busy writing up deals ending the email with a bloody smiley face!
I only ordered it a couple of weeks ago, but have been talking to dealers for a few months. The heritage went straight away, the 110 adventure went quick as well, they are starting to be built in August, I only want delivery in October due to the lease on the current car ending.
Saying that they still have to confirm the price :o

Yes, subject to confirmation of price, obviously they have said that it will be between X and Y just don't want it to be Z, if you know what I mean!

Well... that would be the bargain of the century!!! $ 58k!!! WOW, but there MUST be a mistake there mate...
In the UK, the 90 Adventure pricing is as follows:
Adventure
90 Station Wagon 150 PS 36,102 pounds Ex 20% VAT
110 Station Wagon 7 Seat 36,012 pounds Ex 20% VAT
So at todays exchange rate, that is about $ 70,300 AUD!!!
Need to add shipping, customs and GST... another 15%. So I would be amazed if it came in at less than $ 80,000 AUD.
Good for you though if it is $ 58k!!! ;)

I ordered a Heritage 90 in the UK. 30,900 pounds, about $ 58,000 AUD. Delivery is not until September or October.
No contract signed, because JLR still do not show the model on their computer systems here! Just a deposit paid... and that does not even say a Heritage 90 either! All I have is an email from the dealer saying that I definitely have one allocated, which is great because the ALL sold out in the UK in under 2 days!

Hi Yolo,
All I can tell you is what I have been told, the dealer sent me this on an email on the 28th January when I sent the initial enquiry. Its a spread sheet and I can't work out how to attach it to this post! But you get the idea, at the bottom he says to take $5K off either for the 90, so that makes the 90 Adventure $59K. As mentioned before they think it will be between $55-$59. Which is good considering the amount of extras.
Having said all that it is an indicative price!

G'Day Vic.
I've got NO IDEA on pricing, simply because, as I said, "News" on the "Celebration" editions in Aus, has been very sparce.
However, $58K sounds "a bit too good", when ordinary new 90s with a few extras, are now showing on carsales at around $54/55K.
Anyway, you're one of very few, that I'm aware of, that's got a confirmed order, so it'd be good if you could keep us posted on future developments/pricing with your order.
Thanks, Pickles.

I know what you saying Pickles, I did get the usual three prices and they all said the same. I researched prices and cost, I even got a quote for a 90 with all the standard features of the Adventure as options and that came in at Just a tad short of $58K, that for a new 90 !
I'll ring the salesman today and see what the go is.

Well mate, that all looks pretty good to me!
What a TOTAL bargain that would be at that price, given it is more expensive 50 miles away from where it was made!!!
Having said that... new Defender 110's in OZ, with the equilivant spec to the UK 'XS', are about $ 51k AUD. That is about ? 26k pounds... which is about ? 7 k pounds cheaper than in the UK!!!
TBH, I just don't get it!!!
Fingers crossed for you of course!!!

Anyway... I am excited for you! :D

I know what you're saying, I have family that work in Hailwood and they can get me a "ticket" for discount, they tried to get one for the Adventure and JLR refused point blank, I can get on for a standard 90 no problem!
I've sent a quick email to the Dealer asking some questions so hopefully I'll get an answer this morning, hopefully that will put my mind at rest!

Just spoke to the Dealer, all good, mine is confirmed and is on order due October/November. It was the last 90 Adventure allocated to Australia so I consider myself very lucky.
Reference pricing, I do think it would be in the late $50's!
We all luv them hence being on this forum, but your average Australian is more likely to opts for a Hilux, Prado, Isuzu, VW or even Holden and why wouldn't they! All of them have extra creature comforts even 5 seats! And look at the price of them! All the prices have come down over the last couple of years as there is less of the general public spending their hard earned money!
Here some Toyotas and these prices are without twisting their arm!

I placed an order (and deposit) for a Heritage 110 earlier this year. Spoke to the dealer during the week to see if he had any more detail on price/delivery date.
Dealer advised that he still has nothing on price or confirmed delivery dates. He expects it to be July build with September delivery. But again stressed, this is just his guess.
If Vic's detail on price are correct - I'll be a happy camper !

Yes, prices were released on January 7th, the release date of the Celebration Range! The prices I posted were straight from the document the dealer gave me when I placed my order!!!
Congrats on getting yours! That is a totally fantastic price! I cannot believe how guys in the UK are paying $ 12,000 more, especially as they are made here!!!

So at todays exchange rate, that is about $ 70,300 AUD!!!
Morning YOLO, the prices are the same for the 110 and 90 is this why there is a price difference?
Also if the prices have been released in the UK why haven't Land Rover Australia released them here, can't be that hard to work out how much everything would cost!
Just doesn't add up, why would the dealer take my money and order the car if the estimated price is going to be more than first thought or am I getting far too paranoid!

Hi Vic, hope your right with the prices, I heard LR Australia will release pricing next week ..... back in 2008, the defender Svx 110 was listed at $63k, plus on road costs, was about $69k...if you get adventurer 90 for $58k, I hope so...we'll all be happy...
I'm waiting to see if i get a heritage 110, still dont know...the dealer said it will cost mid $60k's.....he wasn't 100% certain on pricing.
I can't wait to find out, because if its too pricey..need to order a standard 110 keswick green quickly...drive away $50k i was told..
I think an adventurer 110 will be roughly mid $70k's..
thanks robbo:)

No idea mate!
The text in my post with the prices are cut and pasted straight from the PDF brochure that my dealer gave me when I ordered my 90 Heritage on January 7th!
It make NO sense to me at all.
My man math says use the UK pound price before UK tax. I would convert that price to $ AUD, then add 5% Customs Duty and 10% GST. Then add Shipping. That would give the Australian price as circa $ 70K
It is odd however that you can indeed get a 'Drive Away' Defender in OZ for $ 50k, which is considerably cheaper than the same vehicle costs in the UK! So that would suggest they ARE indeed going to be cheaper in OZ! :clap2:
I really do hope the Celebration Editions indeed arrive in OZ at those quoted prices for all those lucky enough to have secured one! ;)

I think a few eyebrows have been raised at JLR on how slow these unique limited edition models have sold down here, 3 days to sell out in the UK!
We don't even know the final sales price yet so there could be some people who'll cancel and order a standard Defender instead or what ever is available at the time!

I wonder what the ACCC would think about a product for sale with no price tag,
From their site
There are laws about the way prices are displayed. Prices should be genuine and you should be able to easily see the total price of anything advertised. If multiple different prices are displayed on a product or in advertising, the business has to fix the display or sell you the item for the lowest price.
Pickles2

I think the answer is that the celebration Editions are not "officially"(I haven't seen any advertisements/announcements by JLR Aus) for sale yet, and that Dealers are simply complying with requests/enquiries from potential customers?

As long as both parties are happy fair enough, but if one was offered at an estimated 65,000 but the invoice turned out to 80,000 and they tried to hold you to it, then ACCC would probably take an interest.
I don't understand why it is so hard for them to set a price, as forex would be well hedged for the year.

Guys what the big deal with these special editions??? Am I missing something..
If I was going to buy a landy for nostalgic reasons or one that would escalate in value over time, I would buy a Keswick green with white roof and white steel wheels and a leather interior. Or an silver with black roof or a white with silver alloys...Or.... You get my point why do you want Land Rover marketing to make more profit than needed. To me special editions aren't special it a marketing con...." Just saying :)"
And frankly you can create your own individual "Heritage Edition" or "expedition edition" with after market parts and make it more individual than marketing team lead by 27 year old Richard Hammond wannabe ..

Why cannot there simply be transparency here! I mean the UK prices were published on the date of release FFS!
The 'base' price should all be the same OZ wide. ORC's are obviously a bit different state by state... funny though how with 'normal' Defenders, dealers have been able to include ORC FOC!
Anyway, worth the wait, they will be very special in OZ as there are not many!

I thought the folding steps might be more traditional and appropriate for the Heritage?
Hi Tony, I am going with the silver side runners, as recent experience in Malaysia showed most of the folding side steps on Defenders were bent:
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2015/04/637.jpg (http://s938.photobucket.com/user/jodel1050/media/Land%20Rovers%20in%20Malaysia/P1020343_zpspsl2iqac.jpg.html)
Not a good example perhaps as a lot of it was bent! But even the newish 2013 Puma had a bent front passenger step.

The factory side runners/side steps are just as flimsy and as easily damaged as the fold up steps, maybe consider getting some rock sliders with tree bars, eg: Mulgo or TerraFirma or one of the other makes, they are mounted a little more solidly off the chassis/bulkhead, and also would help a bit in a potential side impact accident situation. They do mount higher up than the steps though.
Regards,
Mike.
N.B; I in general do not like TerraFirma equipment, it is (in my opinion) usually a cheap, inferior, shoddily made copy of better designed and manufactured equipment out there.... However in this case their rock sliders with tree bars do a reasonable job.

I have standard runners on my TD5 Extreme and they have been fine. But I just thought the folding steps a bit more traditional. However, I am also concerned about them getting bent as I have some experience with that years ago with Series vehicles.

Side Runners?
Depends what you want 'em for. For sure, if ya're gonna do some severe off road stuff, then there's probably more suitable stuff out there.
But, for normal use, vehicle access, fitting in with vehicle appearance etc, they're just fine,...much better than a folding step.

I agree with you on that Pickles. Only reason I am fitting them is because my wife is a little vertically challenged, and I want to keep everything on this standard factory delivered. I don't intend doing any challenging off road driving, but it is going around Australia a few times, & will see lots of dirt roads, beaches & National Parks.

I think the folding steps would look the part on the heritage. None of the lr options provide protection off road but the side runners would be less likely to get caught on things.
Must say I'm a bit jealous, love that feeling of driving a new defender out of the dealers. Mines 2 years old now wife said no to MY15 😔 might have to wash mine real good and pretend 😆

Actually my current defender has had the folding steps fitted for Many years
You are meant to fold them up for extreme off road use but I have bent them many times from not doing so
The biggest advantage is that when you bend them they can be bent back ......usually with a well place kick

You may regret that.
Depending upon your agility, you, and possibly your passengers, may find access a bit inconvenient?

Yes you are (missing something). Factory special editions are more valuable to collectors.
To enjoy, build your own. To collect, seek out the special editions.

I went to my local Dealer today
The figures quoted by robbo are yet to be confirmed by Landrover Australia but are likely to be correct
The worring thing for me is that the price of an Adventure 110 would put in the luxury car Bracket and have a further approximate $4000 Tax added to it

So I have a good talk to the dealer and he has said that even he didn't think that the 90 Adventure would come in at the price it has, he has reworked his figures and come back with $67,960 on the road. I've also asked for a price of the following -
Land Rover 90
Keswick Green / white roof
Body colour wheel arches
Silver side runner
Premium leather seats P6
Vinyl wheel cover
Rubber matts
Load space matt.
He's come back with a price of $52K on the road
If I can get my company through the corporate discount programme they will include all the maintenance for of charge for 3 years, this would help as I'm going to put the car on a novated lease. I'm going to go for one of them but have to now wait for the lease bloke to come back to me with the figures! looking at residual values I can't see the limited edition coming down in value that much, what do you lot think?

Historically, Defenders have held their value well, so you should be right,
So you have saved $15,000 and still getting a well optioned unit . :)
If you are contemplating things like a wheel carrier or bull bar, lights, etc, consider getting them dealer fitted and rolled into the lease.

Dual Finish Alloys.
Cold climate Pack. (Heated seats, front screen etc)
Ribbed aluminium Undershield ( P/N lr008247)..originally introduced as standard on the SVX Defender,..looks good & tidies up the front of the vehicle!
You might as well do it right & make it "A hamburger with the lot"!

Hi Vic, if you can afford it....go for the Adventurer 90....because it
will be on your mind if you let it go....these are supposed to be the last
LE defenders ...and will hold their values...
Im going to use the heritage 110 for work and play...Ill have all my work tools in it to the max...and I'll look after it well......
the LE defenders cost more than the standard defenders, but they are so cool....
I was going to get a standard 110 , if I couldnt get a heriitage 110...

Had a long hard look at them both and am more than likely going to go for the Adventure, it's a bit out of the car allowance I have but am willing to pay the extra couple of grand a year to get the one I wanted.
Just a bit worried about committing with how business is at the moment, mbut saying that I've takin plenty of risks in my life so stuff it!

I did the same with my X-Tech,it was $5,000 more than a standard white one but I thought how often do I buy a brand new defender?,stuff it,it's only 5K and I'd loose that on a joe average vehicle as soon as I drove off the lot.Four years later I'm really glad I did. Pat

Hi there,
First post...
I have a Heritage 90 on order. I can also confirm I have absolutely no details on it to share, as the dealer hasn't shared anything as yet...I have found far more info on this forum in 5mins!
I've wanted a 90 for several years, but just couldn't resist the Heritage. Almost every car on the road nowadays seems to be no more than a "white good" to me...but not this!
My dad drove 110's whilst I was growing up, and I see this as carrying on a family tradition. Very excited!

Order confirmed as 110
Waiting for final pricing ..........i think they are quite dear but SWMBO says if I don't buy one I will regret it
Actually it will be roughly 50% more than what I paid for my xtreme 16 yrs ago
So allowing for inflation I suppose that's reasonable

I read an article where some communications manager for LR Aus was quoted:
"Globally, 2654 Heritage models will be available and 2277 Adventures. Krieger is hopeful Australia will get ?about 100? of each."
Cheers for the direction to spec dfendr - very helpful (and one step ahead of the dealer...).

I picked up my new 110 yesterday from Macarthur LR and I asked about the LE's. They got a 90 Heritage and 110 Adventure, which cost $68k drive away (sorry, I didn't asked about the 90 cost). Needless to say both cars were in high demand.
He also said they won't get another shipment of Defenders until Sept, and the black sawtooth alloys are no longer available as they're completely out of stock.

Did a bit of investigating today, rang a few dealers round the Country and found out the actual LR Australia prices!
Adventure 90 $61,900
Adventure 110 $68,900
+ On roads cost for whatever state you live in and these do change!
A dealer in Vic offered me a 90 Adventure for $69,300 drive away, so the deal I have for $67,960 is about right!
All dealers allocations have gone, there is 200 of the Adventure and Heritage coming in to Australia, however after some interesting conversations most dealers did admit that people were getting their money back and buying standard 90's with a few options. One salesman did say he couldn't blame people but they are very well equipped, he told me that the 'Autobiography' version sold out within days in the UK and LR Australia decided to not bring this model in as it would have been around the $100K mark!
So, I've still got to decide on which way to go!

Yep as said some people have got refunds. Saying that how can you get a refund if its part of a deposit. Or do you get it if you swop to another vehcile?

Can't speak for others, but my deposit was subject to price, if I didn't like the price I'd get a full refund. I do feel the dealer has given me a very fair price on the standard 90 especially with the options I wanted and I have just got confirmation that my application for the corporate discount program has been accepted, so three years free servicing, result!

Looking through Defenders on "Carsales" today, I noticed that a N.S.W. Dealer has an Adventure 90 listed for sale, delivery October, but no images or pricing.
Check out Carsales if you're interested.

I don't know how to, & Wifey's not here, but if you go to Landrover, then Defender, then specify 90, you'll get it on the 2nd page.

With a Heritage 90 on order, I had a think about options, and think I'll just go with Cold Pack. I decided against the side runners (for now) - am I mad? And I just don't think a sunroof is worth it.
So, now on to thinking about some (basic) mods. Mulgo seat extensions are a must (I'm tall), as are upgraded headlights (I understand). I have also carefully noted the various jobs that will need to be done over time from other threads - what an amazing resource this forum is!
I realise most Heritage's will never leave the tarmac, but I'll be wanting to go off road pretty much immediately. Nothing over the top, but some reasonably challenging day tracks. I'm a bit worried about no steering guard - would it be recommended to get one fitted? Is there a good quality, but "low key" one that will look OK with the Heritage?
Anything I should think about protection wise?
Cheers for any help...I have a long journey ahead of me!

Mrs Tombie had her shiny new 90 offroad in almost stock trim (had Rijidij from bar and that was it) in under 1250km...
Remembering that the first 1200km was the drive from the dealer to our house ;)
In stock trim they are bloody impressive... a bit of protection wont go astray - in the meantime just watch for big rocks and avoid making them meet the steering rod :D

Hi Simon,
I did order the silver side steps for mine, mainly because the wife is a little on the short side. Didn't bother with the sunroof & have ordered the tow pack, paint/upholstery protection & that is it. We intend dragging a caravan around Australia with this & I will also carry my RV5 Oztent on Thule bars for the tracks we can't or don't want to take the caravan down.
Cheers Nigel

i ordered cold climate pack and side steps for mine - side steps are good at stopping other car doors from contacting mine:)
climate pack was purely for the front windscreen demister - i must be a heavy breather when driving but i all my cars tend to fog up, especially at night and i hate having air con on all the time..

Cheers all! Cold Climate pack is a must - I had a Ford with the heated windscreen back in the UK, and it is a great piece of kit.
I may go for some side steps...I too have a short wife!
Avion8, do you mind me asking how much the tow pack was? I have been reading up on fitting a towbar (not straightforward, as always!), and it looks like the OEM part is best.

Hi Simon,
No confirmed costings for the vehicle or the steps/tow pack, but I did get a discount on the paint/interior fabric protection. I probably should follow up on the costings, but have dealt with this dealership for years & have some faith in them.

I think side steps are a must. Didn't worry in the end about the sun roof and glad I was talked out of it. To be honest didn't notice the cold climate pack. But my heater is crazy hot so not sure I would need it anyway!

I went the sunroof, partially because it's not really an after market option. I keep it cranked open about 1cm to let hot air out, esp when parked with the fridge on, and yes you could do that with the windows.
But it can be a pain with the sun directly above. I was advised not to tint it, as the glass could crack, which I don't understand, anyone? I may ask the tinter why.

Hey Andy G, I had my sunroof re-tinted with dark 99% UV tint. Massive difference to comfort inside. No problems so far, not sure how glass could crack? Mine came with sunroof. I wouldn't have ordered it. Defeats the purpose of all vertical glass to some extent, which is one of Defenders leading design characteristics in a hot climate. But the heavy tint works well and it's nice to have the light and breeze from above while slowly roving through the bush or on the coast (too noisy at highway speeds). Enjoy!

I've got my 90 Adventure for $67,960 drive away with no options, the only options I could opt for was a sun roof and the cold climate pack, being in Qld I didn't want/need either. I could opt for side steps but that would mean removing the under body protection, the only thing I want is a tow bar which I'm looking into at the moment.

Thanks, A good friend of mine has bought an Adventure from them. I haven't been there, but it's been mentioned on here that the Service Manager "Mike"?, an Englishmann, knows his Defender stuff!
We bought our 90 a year or so ago from ULR, don't know what allocation they were given, must pop in & see what they got. Anybody bought a celebration from ULR?

Let us know what you think,....A good Service Manager can, sometimes, make a lot of difference to favourable Defender ownership. ULR were very good to us, particularly when relating to us as to what we required during the pre delivery process.

I had a disappointing conversation with the dealer at the end of last week. I placed an order for an Heritage 110 and paid a deposit in January. I thought I was sweet. When I enquired of the dealer last week as to pricing and delivery he gave me the sad news that they were allocated no 110s either Heritage or Adventurer. He even ventured to say that possibly no 110s made it to Australia. Is anyone able to confirm this ?

Hi all, I wonder if somebody could help me...
I have a Heritage 90 on order, and am getting VERY excited. However, I started a new job today, and all the parking is underground. The height n the entrance is 2.1M max. Now, I had a look in the most recent brochure, and the height of a Defender is stated at 2000-2180mm (depending on tyre and suspension set up). Would anyone know what height a Heritage 90 (on heavy duty wheels / heavy duty suspension and Conticross tyres) would come in at?
Please bring positive news...

Hi Simon,
I measured my 110 Xtreme with a Thule roof bar on the back & it came in at 2.16 mtrs. I did this in preparation for my 90 Heritage which will wear these roof bars & hopefully fit in my garage which is 2.20. Will do a trial run with the 110 which should be the same height - I hope.

Also, the 90 adventure comes with the 150 engine but doesn't come with a roof rack or snorkel, right?

I had the same concerns when I bought my 110 last year as my work car park is 2.1m. Fortunately there are about three other regular Defender drivers in there so I knew it should get in but I was still worried.
In th end I found I literally just squeezed in. Where it looks really scary is when you start to go back down the down ramps!
It also caused me a lot of angst about roof racks etc. I would really like the Frontrunner one but even those are too high.
Have ended up with the Thule removable roof bars. Very happy with them and they go on and off pretty fast.

Went in to see the Brisbane dealer today to get some sort of confirmation, must admit since I have placed my order he seems to have become not as helpful! After asking a few questions I got the impression that he just wanted me to go so he could sell some more Rang Rovers!
Anyway, he did not know anything about the Landmark edition and said it was not coming to Australia.
He did not think the 90 Adventure would have the 150hp engine fitted as it was not in any of his LR sales information.
The Australia Adventure would not have the snorkel and roof rack.
When questioned on the delivery date he said it was due to hit the production line in August and was due down here mid to late October.
He also said that LR Australia will stop taking orders for the Defender on the 30th of June and the option list is decreasing vapidly!

I'm not sure of the heights of the Limited edition models but our 90 is not as tall as the 110 at the back. They do have different tyres but part of it is also the rear overhang on the 90 from the suspension to the rear is less so given the car slopes down from the back it is always going to be slightly lower.

I have an MY12 110 it's stock standard still running original tyres not sure of the height difference at the rear between that and a 90 but it doesn't fit in the car park in Argyle St Hobart that has a maximum height of 2.1 metres. Found out the hard way, set the alarm off three cars behind me, six point turn in the entrance over the concrete strip in the middle. Wouldn't stop me buying a heritage. Full tank of diesel and maybe half a gym set in the back. Or you could try a set of air bags from a p38 heard they're great.

To build on Pickles comment, surely if the deposit was for a vehicle in the holding yard then selling the vehicle you've put the deposit on to you puts more kitty in the bank to settle with the other creditors.
Has the dealership stopped trading completely or has the receiver taken over with a view to try and trade out of the receivership?
Who's got your deposit the receivers or the dealer?

Southern Cross Automotive goes into receivership | Toowoomba Chronicle (http://www.thechronicle.com.au/news/southern-cross-automotive-group-placed-receivershi/2658823/)
This article indicates the receivers intend to trade the business and sell as a viable dealership with no effect for customers. Maybe those on that side of the country may no more.

I would have thought if you put a deposit on the vehicle, then it is legally yours, especially if you signed a contract. Consider the alternative scenario where you paid a deposit and then didn't want the vehicle. I think they would be very quick to say "sorry mate, the vehicle is yours and if you don't want it, you will lose the deposit". I think it is worth looking at the legal angles.

Hi All,
I posted this previously. Since then I have confirmed that I was first on the list with what I believe to be the biggest dealer in Australia. Yet they have received no allocation and I miss out. Bummer!
I have made some more enquiries and I am told from what I believe to be a reliable source at there will be all of about 15 Heritage 110's and 70 Heritage 90's coming to Australia. That is all! Guess I will not be the only one disappointed.

Looked at the brochure and tried to find some interior pictures of the Adventurer, so it was black/black black/red black/grey and black/tan, liked the Black and Tan but played safe and stuck with the black on black, basically due to the lack of pictures and thought this was the best option for the orange paint!
What has everyone else gone for or what would you have done? Still time to change and I'm still not 100% sure, guess I need some reassurance!

For my 110, which now has 2000km, I got the premium seats in black/grey (ebony/lunar) and it looks awesome. Was going for black/black but a mate of mine who has a fine taste for premium cars said the contrast would be awesome. And it is, particularly with my ebony headliner.

Funy thing about a V8 Defender "Final Edition" etc. Whilst it ain't NEVER gonna happen, they would all be presold before the 1st one left the production line.....and what a GREAT vehicle they would be.
But, in the event anyone here thinks that I reckon they're a chance, I'm here to tell ya now,..NO WAY.
Pickles.
Pickles ever thought of buying the 2014 Range Rover V8 diesel motor from one that had been written off and fitting it in you 90 with the auto box??? I had the old 3.9 V8 rover motor with auto box out of a disco fitted to my 90, 12 years ago and it worked well. I did not every measure the lt/100km as I loved it to much to acknowledge the negative side. However the V8 diesel should be reasonable.

Louis, Being an old "V8 Man" for years, I've owned a few!, so yes I do get those "thoughts", but they are only thoughts as far as the Defender is concerned, because as our Defender is relatively new, & I'm happy with it, I don't want to mess with it.
But, if I had unlimited dollars, it would probably be an LS3 V8 that I would fit,..450 HP & around 570Nm would be pretty good I reckon. But, I repeat, totally out of the question for me!

Just thought I'd repeat my post from the general Defender forum . . .
I had a deposit on a Heritage Edition Defender 90 but the dealer didn't get an allocation. If anyone hears of a cancelled order, changed mind, too much dough, etc, please please drop me a PM.
Thanks!

^^^^^^^ I was talking to the salesman today at Austral in Brisbane, said that I would prefer to have delivery towards the end of November, he did mention that he had two 90 Aventures allocated but not sold, could be worth a call?

Just to give you the heads up, been into Austral Land Rover in Brisbane this morning and checked the state of play on the delivery of my 90 Adventure. It's built and on the water. This is a bit quick for me so I have managed to change to another 90 that will be built in October, this suits me better and will get here in at some point in December.
So there is a 90 Adventure on the water that's available, just thought I'd post this if anyone was interested.

Are you sure that the Adventure will be 150HP? The 16MY spec sheet indicates the same engine in Adventure and Heritage, 90 and 110. i.e., 2.2 litre 4 cylinder diesel, no further info but no indication that there is any difference between the models.

150HP engine in Adventure 90 & Autobiography.

Is there something different with the 150HP engines? You can achieve that with a remap of the ECU.A new intercooler will give you 170HP.Just asking.

I've ordered a 90 Adventure and must admit am not 100% convinced that it will come with an uprated engine, I know the Autobiography does but have not seen any JLR info confirming that the 90 Adventure will as well!
Could be wrong, most of the time I am!
Pickles2
5th August 2015, 07:15 AM
ATAIK, it's only an ECU enhancement to get the 150HP, & I think I've read that there is an uprated clutch fitted too.
And you're right about the 170HP,..plenty of tuners can provide that, & more.
Still, 150HP from the factory, would be nice.

Same engine. Just a different ECU map. Same intercooler afaik too.
Yes, in the UK, BAS and Alive both offer the same and more.
That level of power increase is 'nothing' really. There is SO much more available from the engine whilst still being totally reliable! :)

No 150HP?....Never knew that,......because of our higher ambient temperatures?
I knew that no 110s were getting 150HP, (could never work out why) nor was the Heritage in any configuration, but I always thought that the Adventure 90 would have 150HP!!......which is the only model that I thought with it (150HP) that was coming here.

Here is a direct cut/paste from the limited edition release brochure published in the UK... maybe things for the Oz market are different??
"The exciting new Adventure Edition is aimed at Land Rover customers who relish the great outdoors and embrace the Defender's ?go anywhere, do anything? attitude. It comes fitted with additional underbody protection and Goodyear MT/R tyres to boost the Defender's already class-leading all-terrain capability along with an Expedition roof rack, snorkel and rear access ladder. Optional Phoenix Orange paint ensures the Adventure Edition stands out from the Defender crowd. 90 and 110 Station Wagon variants will be available, and all 90 SW variants will feature a power upgrade from 122ps to 150ps. Production will be limited to 600 in the UK.
The Autobiography Edition provides more comfort, equipment and luxury than ever before. Limited to only 80 vehicles in the UK, all in iconic 90 Station Wagon form, this will be the most collectable Defender of all. The hand finished Windsor leather interior, deep pile carpet mats, aluminium design details and a choice of unique Autobiography paint finishes make this the most desirable Defender ever produced. To complete the picture, every Autobiography Edition will also feature the power upgrade from 122ps to 150ps.

Hi Oldfart,
I also have a Heritage 110 on order. Price without any options is $65,990 drive away (Victoria).
I've optioned the Cold Climate pack ($820) and Sunhatch ($590).
I have noticed others have been given their build date - I'm still waiting to hear mine ......
Also keen to see a picture of the Heritage 110. Plenty of good 90 photos on Defender2.net - but no 110's.

We've got DSC in the 90 I'm not convinced its a good thing. We have speed cushions in our street and in the 110 without DSC or in the 90 with the DSC off you go straight over them. With the DSC on sometimes it feels like you crab sideways as you go over them.

Happy chappy as I received an email from my dealer an hour ago, with confirmation that my Heritage 90 SW is complete & awaiting shipping with an arrival date just 7 weeks away on 23/10, and would I like to view the car on the day of arrival, "it will be dirty etc? but I think it may be a nice experience for you?". I will be there & what great customer service. Still doesn't deliver until 30/10. This has been the longest 10 month wait I have experienced, all my 4 kids arrived a lot sooner than this:)

Can't see what all the hype is about. Bit of leather and a black roof. The black roof would be the most stupid thing about this edition for Australian conditions. I guess it would be easy to fry an egg in the Simpson with out getting the fry pan dirty! To pay $65k plus for a Defender alone is questionable but if you want to park it on the cafe strip and look at it while you sip your latte I guess you can justify it.

By the way theres a lame little article in The Age newspaper today about the original HUE166. Apparently the steering wheel was both, "in the middle to save changing it for different markets" and "heck, it was so sophisticated, the steering wheel was even placed on the correct side for each market". :Rolling:
Nice pic of HUE though :) (Drive page 12.)
