G'day, is that the old 2 cylinder 2 stroke engine? A mate had one in Darwin, towed a small boat, kept the weight to a minimum, took it to all the good barra spots around there, never let him down, Bob
 Remember the old LJ Suzuki's?

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I'm a fan. What a great looking little LJ. A good mate of mine has exactly one of those which is used daily - 800 cc motor and all but in red. His is in fantastic condition mechanically and body wise - you could drive it anywhere.
What sort of nick is yours in 4 x 4? You are a lucky guy.
Memories are kicking in here. I started off in this fourby caper with the 3 cylinder two stroke hard top decades ago.
Bob, you must have been in Darwin when I was there. I sold those Suzukis at Motorama on the Stuart Hwy.
If your trade in drove in we gave you $500 deposit and $1500-$1700 balance depending how hard you tried to drive the bargain.
Then the LJ80 800cc 4stroke came along and spoiled it all.
Lots of stories to tell about the LJ50.

My second 4x4 was an LJ50 until I upgraded to an LJ80 and then an LJ81. Brilliant little four wheels drives. Pity many of the Stations around here and probably elsewhere turn them in to bull chasers. Pardoo probably has 20 Suzuki's of various models in various states of disrepair.
I would love to get my hands on an LJ50 soft top again.

It took a great deal of time for the revs to drop between gear changes on the two strokes and compression braking was not a strong point.
Here is the brand new one issued to me in Bougainville , early 70,s.
Nearly drowned it in the Mobiai river I think it was.
West coast driving between Panguna and Buin.
Wonderful little things.
At the time I thought it would be the vehicle of choice for a solo round the world trip.
Come to think of it, I still do.
Below a couple of pics of my LJ50 on a solo circumnav around Lake Eyre in 77.
Back in the days when...
LJ50 - Love the smell of burning 2 stroke oil in the Morning- oh and the blue smoke trail mixed with early morning mist.
