I used to cart the digital camera around and not take photos. As a result, I am now tending to leave it at home.

I'm really enjoying it, my first DSLR but I find it quite easy to use, actually quite intuitive.

I haven't done much video other than playing around, as with most if not all DSLRs there's no auto focus.

i have the k20 and love it... didnt want to wait for the k7 so went the k20... there isnt much difference image wise... but there is speed wise (and video) also the k7 seems a bit small for me i have the grip on the k20 all the while!

Anyway... what i was going to say is that if you come from a P&S background you need to forget everything! It amazed me how much more light i needed (or seemed to need) and the fact that the small P&S sensor has a huge Depth of field whereas the DSLR doesnt.. making focusing a little more interesting at times!

after using the same P&S for 5 years... it really did take me some time to get a good percentage of Keepers... now im used to it .. im getting some nice pics (well i think so!) and reading about exposure and general photographic tecniques helped. As most of the info that relates to film is relavent i picked up a load of old photographic books and devoured them.

Anyway just a heads up for those that are delving into DSLR for the first time... dont expect beter pictures instantly!

    Thanks

100% agree... as discussed elswhere i use lightroom and that also took me a while to get used to ... but the flexibility of recovering shots etc... i'll always shoot in raw. Jpg is convenient... but i like fiddling....
