    Mustang with the merlin engine just watched a show on discovery about them very nice have seen that one at richmond airshow sounds great apparently the supercharger is on low to increase egine life

    That must have been as you say a magic experience Mick. Every aviation enthusiast would give their left leg for a ride in one (including me). Apparently when they were first released they had an Allison V12 engine and they weren't very good performance wise so someone suggested putting the Merlin V12 from the Spit in it and it totally transformed it into a magnificient fighting aircraft. Although there was another yank machine that was excellent as well and that was the P-38 Lightning. Apparently it was the only aircraft that could catch or out run the Zeros. It had twin V12 Allisons with turbosuperchargers. Must have been awesome.
