Despite the serial number the aircraft is actually A68-110, a CAC-18. From Welcome to ADF Serials ...

"Delivered 1 AD ex CAC on 20/02/48. Stored sucessively at Benalla, Tocumwal, RAAF East Sale & 1 AD. Sold for scrap 24/08/57. Registered VH-MFT from 13/01/97. It was being restored as P-51D-NT Mustang IV A68-769 at the Caboolture Warplane Museum, Queensland. Flying as VH-MFT from 2002."

    Nice shots.

What an amazing aeroplane. The first with enough range to support the bombers (B-17's) all the way to the heart of Germany. The B-17 crews used to refer to them as our "little friends".
