Thread: Post your birdlife shots

Yeah I agree, certainly waiting for the bird to fly 'naturally' in hunt for grub rather than a bird perched on a fence (not that these are bad, as you get detail).

I discovered that maybe my soft shots were completely my fault... my lens does go 'soft' at 300mm and open wide (f5.6), so need to remain at around 200mm at f7ish for sharpest results. Of course, 200mm limits my ability to get in close

I suppose ill just have to save up the $6000 required for a good lens, AS IF!

I love the Frogmouth, they are cute and interesting.
They are not easy to spot because they blend in the trees like a bit of branch.

Nice shot, clear as well (well not much colour but sharp).

I new that was a pair in that bush so I was on the look for them
The camouflage is awesome, blends with the bark very well.
The one on the left is awake with the LHS eye closed and the other opened. keeping the eye on me.
The partener was sleeping.

Great shot. I like the Tawnys too. We have a pair that hang about our camp at Christmas. These ones tend to hoot and call to each other. I'ce got 2 that like sitting on my weather station at home. Never heard them hoot though. Reported to like eating spiders

I'm not happy with my shots. They tended to hide up in their nest and the camera angle was very steep. Here's mum with the young'en-

Good to find out what the problem is. At least now you know what you need to do to fix it. I think trying to get good bird pictures is a real art form and a lot of effort can go into getting that perfect shot.

You have to borrow a cherry picker to get a better angle It would be an awesome capture.
