    New Camera - D3100

Finally talked myself into buying a DSLR, I ended up buying Nikon's entry level D3100. I'm pretty happy with it so far, and am finally venturing out of Auto

I only got the one kit lense with it, (thankfully), the 18-55, and I'm already looking at a second lense. So far I have narrowed the second lense down to either the:
Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G as a good alround travel lense, or the
Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 as a replacement for the kit lense, or the
Nikkor 35mm f1.8G to force me into thinking more about composition etc.
Any pointers on these would be greatly appreciated

Anyway, a few pics from my new "toy":

    Cheers,

been thinking about the 35mm myself but am leaning more to a 30mm or 28mm f/1.4 now after a few things i have read on the forums about shooting a room full of people but you really need to define what it is you are going to be using each lens for i guess. price is another heavy influence

the nikon 18-55 is not a bad lens for the price. i bought a second hand one as they are a good lens for taking vehicle pics i am finding.

would love a tokina 11-16 f/2.8 but too many dollars for the amount of use i would give it.

Thanks Inc, I've been looing at the metadata from my pictures to see what I'm doing, most pictures I've taken are between 18 and 35mm. The pictures I mainly take are:

    Landrovers, (of course )
    Landscapes,
    and random scenes.

I don't have a huge amount of money left to spend, up to $700 I guess. Most of the info I've seen on the interweb has said to spend money on better lenses, and its better to wait than compromise.

    Cheers

Congratulations on the camera, fine choice.
The 35mm on your camera with a crop factor of 1.5 will be to narrow IMO.
Consider the Tokina 12-24 f/4 which will give you a good range for landscaping and interior photography.$ 503 is a bargain!!
Before purchasing the 18-105 I wouls look the new Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR
    Nice photos by the way
