    HDR

I have been playing with light composition and come to the realisation that some photos simply need HDR to truly reflect what the eye sees.

So after reading the manual I had Sussed it out on my D300s Nikon, I haven't downloaded any yet which leads to my question: any recommendations for the best software to do this with?

I bought a second hand copy of nikon's nx but again haven't loaded it onto my computer yet

Can it be done with Flickr or picassa?

I use Corel Paint Shop Pro, which has HDR processing capability and Photomatix which is dedicated pro HDR software. You can download a trial version of the Photomatix software from their website. If you like it and decide to buy it is not expensive.

    Enjoy playing....

Nik software is one of the best and has a heap of support and tutorials. I've just upgraded to HDR Efex 2 but use their entire software suite.

A good short article on capturing HDR is here: Capturing a High Dynamic Range (HDR) Image « Education Blog

I use Photomatix which is easy to use and very capable. I also have CS5 which is also very good.

I use both to compare and select the result to my liking.

    Get photomatix or artizon HDR.

    It'll be worth your while.

And just remember to not overcook the final image.

NX down loaded. Now I have to take some sample shots; I'm a bit of a minimalist particularly with my photography so when I think I have some thing worth showing I will post it. Also will check out all the links

That comment is worth highlighting. Too many HDR images end up this way.

Blitz, this is a test done using EasyHDR pro
The software is reasonable cheap and give good results.
    I used the Nikon 300s with a Tokina 14-24 f/4 on a Manfrotto tripod.
I took 5 shots and used only 3. The reason for that was to minimize the distortion in the clouds because the movement on them from frame to frame.
Generally I do not use HDR in landscaping photography when there are clouds in the sky. I do not like to effect.
In this case I was trying to get details in the bottom of the pools.
The settings were aperture f/18, focal lens 12mm, ISO 200 and if I remember correctly the shutter speed was 1/250
