I finally got time to test the new lens, it was a stormy day.

All pictures were shot RAW and post processed with Photoshop.

I have a 24-105 L lens and it is a lens that spends a lot of time on the camera. A limitation that I need to remind myself of: If you fit more than one filter there will be dark corners (vignettes) at the wide-angle end of the zoom range. I always have UV filter as potection, but with a polarizer added the wide angle landscapes have to be cropped to get rid of the black corners or better still don't use the widest end of the zoom range when the ploarizer is on.

How about using a step up adapter 77mm to 82mm and then use the 82mm size filters to reduce or prevent vignette?

    Then add 82mm filters.

The problem then would be the standard lens hood for that lens may not fit easily.
