Check out the Drift HD Ghost before you buy - they're a pretty neat unit - I just bought one - got it from a place in NYC - great price with a lot of "freebies" thrown in - have a look before you make your mind up...
    cheers

This is where I got it from ...Drift HD Ghost Helmet Camera Bundle | eBay

I am still have not made my mind up yet. I am not sure if i am better off spending the extra money for the black version but probably not.
I dont know exactly what accessories i should get.
and the last thing is should i even get it i have been reading a lot of bad reviews about it not working when people get it and that the customer service is really bad

I have a Hero2 and its a good unit. I feel no need to upgrade at all.

The GoPro mounts and stuff are by and large pretty good. Have a look at some of the AWESOME youtube videos where they have them stuck to aerobatics planes, surfboards etc etc.

A GoPro Hero2 would be more than sufficient for your needs.

I bought mine overseas as it was heaps cheaper than here. Was from a retailer (was a while back so i cant remember who) not ebay.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

You have seen my cape trip report havent you?? that video was done with a hero2 and not on full resolution either...

I can tell you know that if your asking how easy is it to edit and things you do not need a black because the features will be beyond you and your needs.

I would be quite happy with a hero 2 but I can not find them anywhere that is cheaper then a hero 3.
Dullbird your video is quite good I would be happy enough with the quality of that. My videos would be a little bit different but I think it still shows the quality

Just a tip, the latest gopro is the only one to get if you are considering using it underwater. The housing has been redesigned so the optics are flat and therefore will focus properly underwater. The older models are hopeless when taken diving.

If you already own a older Gopro, you can buy a modified housing to use underwater.

I dont think thats quite true as far as I'm aware there is no difference between either dive housing for the 3 or the 2, the only difference as far as I'm aware is that the 3 is slightly smaller on the glass flat lens. Or at least it appears that way to me

I thought i saw somewhere that the go pro 3 could be used underwater without an underwater housing
