Why not put another CF card in it? If you need some I have several which are excess to requirements.
Does anyone have any experience with adapters for compact flash to SD cards? I want to resurrect my old D70, but the card id dead, and IIRC it was a pain to transfer from it to my Mac anyway. Lots of adapters around, but do they work? Is there a max size for the SD, or does that depend on the camera?

I’ve never had a problem downloading to Adobe Lightroom on my PC from my ancient Pentax *istD which uses CF. I have card readers that accept CF cards and which plug into my USB ports.
I don’t use the *istD much any more, it’s been replaced several times by later Pentaxes. The *istD stays in the car with a couple of spare lenses. It/they are worth nothing to sell but if it/they get stolen it’s not a big loss. The camera still takes excellent pics.
The *istD and my L322 are both 2003 vintage but still work exceptionally well.

I guess it could be a Mac thing, but has updated the OS half a dozen times since I used the Nikon.I did have the adapter to USB but I have no idea where it would be. But it seems crazy to have a DSLR that I never use. Sure, it's entry level, but it works and uses the F-Mount, and lenses can be had for not much. Discovered it needs a new battery, of course.
CF doesn't respond well to butterfingers though.

Jeff’s Jungle is going to deliver a card reader, probably tomorrow. Might as well use the CF. The one I have is 1 gig.

I understand. I started with a Pentax Spotmatic (thread mount) in 1968 and moved to a bayonet K-mount in 1989 when I bought a Pentax SF-X autofocus. I also bought a Pentax adapter to use my Pentax screw-mount lenses on the K-mount body.
When I went digital I stayed with Pentax as the old auto-focus film lenses work perfectly with my
Pentax DSLR. My old screw-mount lenses also work remarkably well in manual mode.
I have too much money tied up in digital and film bodies and lenses to consider changing now. The only thing I’d like is faster focusing and tracking for sports photography.

If you do get a new battery, look for the EN-EL3e(ie. D300 era battery), not the original type EN-EL3.
While it won't give you any added battery info/monitoring benefit on the D70(it doesn't have the extra tab for it), they are a much better battery.
And they do work on a D70.
