How about just north of Perth ;)
Teaching the boy to ride, and us on how to use the new 650D. Love the excitment in the face.

Hasn't been anything posted for a while, so I thought I would share this with you all.
I'm led to believe it has been used for many things over the years, including a school many moons ago

Cockatoo Island taken last year. Minesite on the right of the island. The island in the background that you can also see mining activity on is Koolan Island.

Looking down into the mine itself, with crushing plant, ore shed and shiploader at the far end of the pit. The pit is below the ocean - the "sea wall" keeps the water out (well, most of the time it does :o). Koolan Island minesite can be seen in the top left corner of the photo.
At the end of last year, we knocked down the ore shed and old crushing plant. We are now extending the "sea wall" to surround this area and will then extend the pit into this area. We have taken a new "mobile" crushing plant up to the island and this is now installed on the waste dump at the other end of the pit. It's all on tracks and can be "walked" to wherever we need to set it up.

A view across to the mainland in the evening. We get a few good storms up there. :D

Whales frolicking just off the mine workings. The tree huggers try to tell everyone that we are "disturbing their habitat" and driving them away from their natural breeding grounds. They've been hanging around every year since well before mining activities began up there and no doubt will still be there long after we've all moved on.

And not too far away from the island ............ Horizontal Falls. Unfortunately, not quite the right time of the tide cycle when this was taken. If you get the timing right, the flow is much greater than this. I've been there by boat when it was flowing hard, but never managed to get the timing right from the air.
