Wow, that would have taken a reasonable recovery exercise to get it out of that bog!
Now for something completely different - a self-burying excavator. I saw this as we went past on the train across the alps in NZ last month. I wish I'd had the camera set to take multiple pix.

I've seen photos of an example worse than that, but I never asked for a copy of the photos. NZ as well.

Very impressive, but I too have seen a lot worse! Unfortunately I'm not able to post pic's as it was at a site where photography was not permitted.
I really like the second picture, it has that feel of wild beast on the marsh land. Almost looks natural... now where's David Attenborough.

Would take a hell of an effort to debog that machine once the mud had time to flow in around the tracks and walking gear. Just getting powerful and heavy enough gear in there to clean up around and lift it without hopelessly bogging the recovery gear would be a big ask.
David Ogle's troops managed to bog a Fiatallis 41B dozer (76 tonnes) on the bay end of the Brisbane Airport extensions in the late 80's. The tide came and went a few times before they assembled enough appropriate equipment to recover it and the tractor was nicely grouted into the mud. Took two swamp dozers, four biggish excavators, and four crawler cranes to do the job.
