Looking at eBay etc the price doesn't look to bad, but...

For $950 you can get a new D3000 (basically replaces D60) with 18-55 & 55-200 new kit lenses and that's not a grey import price either.

As for what to look for.
Dust bunnies or other issues on the sensor. Take a picture and download it and look for anomalies.
Marks and fungus on the lenses.
Is the battery on the way out?
Shutter life (D60 is good for about 20,000 shots). The shot count information is embedded in the EXIF data of a picture.

D60 is a good camera, basic, but very good. I know several people with them and all are very happy.

Personally I'd be looking at the D90 but it is a much more expensive camera and significantly better.

    May be just me
Been caught before buying second hand and thats been locally, heaven forbid if the item come from the states on how you would deal with it. For my money I would much rather have a new camera with warrenty than a better featured second hand one. I have got some second hand lenses off ebay (got them cheap) and have been lucky but for a body I would never buy second hand.
Different folks have different ideas I suppose and you will need to do what is right for you. Not having a shot at you DB (respect your opinions), I just think a bit different.
    cheers

    thats fair enough BB

only going on the theory if you buy second hand you have no come back either.

some of the ones I posted above are new! but I wouldn't know if they had warranty even there new price is down from the second hand quoted price weeds has had.

To be honest though weeds if the price suits YOU and you like the look and feel of the camera thats all that matters really..

    like I said early I only said I wouldn't

Entry level the Pentax K-x is the best. You will not find a better camera for the price, plenty of reviews out there. Pentax K-x DSLR Camera
