How do you reckon the material on the Hannibal compares to plain canvas (such as the custom job I'm looking at)?

What custom job are you looking at????

The canvas on the Hannibal products is far superior than, the cheap stuff used by other manufactures, and Hannibal canvas is Australia made and dyna-proofed.

Looking at a custom RTT made by some local guy. It looks well built, but the canvas looks quite heavy duty. Perhaps a good thing for durability, I dunno.

I'm going over to Hannibal tomorrow to look at theirs, then have another look at the custom one.

One other thing I'm needing to know. I plan to sit this RTT on a canopy that lifts off, and thus needs to support the tent. Can a hannibal protrude 300mm over one end, or do supports/racks need to be right at the end of the base?

I think its a little hard to say as to how it may fit without looking at the product its self, and maybe obtaining some sizes, etc, but unless you can obtain the same or similar material that the hannibal equipment is made from then you will not get a quality long lasting canvas. I suppose with the Hannibal product you have the reassurance of a quality product that is far superior to its competitors, and one that is made to last and given a decent warranty.

The canvas Hannibal uses is not as heavy as some canvas but a very good ripstop material. I thing it better being a bit light weight. If the price is right I wouldn't be overly worried about canvas, but more about design and functionality. It is a good idea looking at Hannibal and speaking to Peter. I think they are the best large roof top off the shelf. I wish they made one that fitted the full width of the trailer so there was extra room inside for gear and so also taller.

Well, I went and looked at the Hannibal tents today. Glad I did, because they had a 1.8m job they demoed for me, and I quickly realised this size would be big enough for our family (provided there are no more new additions!).

I preferred the Hannibal, so decided to give the custom job a miss. Thanks for the heads up.

Now I just have to find a canopy to put it on! And if anyone has a 1.8m Hannibal for sale, let me know!
