Tented for the last 18yrs in a family canvas cabin tent .... now the 2x oldest are off our hands, we only have 1x 10yo to think about.

We changed over to an Oztent RV-5 + Foxwing .... because it's quick to setup/packup compared to the old cabin tent. Slowly then setting up the Disco with drawers, fridge, kitchen etc for some future anticipated touring.

Depends on duration in one spot, and the weather.

Short overnighters or travelling = swag, longer stays = tent (only takes 5min or so to set up). Camped for a number of days in ****ing down rain, not sure I would want to be in a swag, no matter how weather proof it was.

Swag or centre pole tent for extended trips. Hiking tent when bush walking.
Used to have a camper trailer (home build on modified No5 trailer). Am looking at a similar setup only on a smaller trailer.

Camper trailer, overnighters or extended stays, easier than a tent IMO, 5min to put up for overnighters if we didn't pull thing out and just slide into bed, 20min if we get to camp early and set up to cook and sit around the fire.

When it is just me a = swag

Me and the kids = 2 x lightweight hike tents and lightweight kitchen fly

Soon to be Supa Wing awning and possibly swags all round for most trips, will kepp the light weight tents for extended trips though.

The way I have my setup, if it does not fit in the D2 then it does not come along.

(Apart from the new 35x12.5 Maxxis Creepy Crawlers, they will need a trailer of their own when I get them)
