    Hi Goran

Was just up in the mountains just under the snow. Swag works a treat and rolls up with sleeping bag, pillow, jumper, tracky dacks and bennie inside. It takes a few seconds to roll in or out. We have some camp beds and a camping trailer almost always leave them at home unless the girls are coming along. The cot tent looks interesting but I wonder if it would work on uneaven ground. Depends if your hunting ferals or game animals but the later is often in very hilly/mountain type locations where flat ground can be hard to find and a swag works even on a incline.

A fly or tarp over either swag or cot tent tied off your rangie if you have roof racks would help if your hunting cold and wet locations. River flats camp sites are almost always damp!

Which every you choose, make get a good sleeping bag to suit where your camping. A bag liner is well worth it to keep the bag clean and gives you a few extra degrees of warmth. It can be made from a double flanelet sheet if you or yours are handy. My 25 year old down sleeping bag copes very well.

If you buy a swag I recommend using sheets, blankets, doonas as required, I don't see the point of constricting yourself in a sleeping bag and not using all the space in the swag.

I have four bottom end $$ sways and always rely on the vehicle awning or tarp if the weather is looking dodgy, pretty sure my swags were like $60 each.

Did you read my post #2 in this thread, it was all about sitting a swag on a cot/stretcher to get up off the ground, Regards Frank.

So now I have to find a nice size swag to fit on it.

How cold is it? Bags can be down under minus 12 and very comfy. Try that temp on with a doona ontop and not wrapped up and you might be a little icy. I use the doona, sheets over sumer and milder weather but must be a wimp up in the snow as I am zipped up tight in my bag.
It gets very cold in outback QLD as well so it might be just me.

Tip on buying a stretcher, LAY on it before you buy, some can be very uncomfortable with a bar across the middle.
I bought a Large size stretcher it is 1 metre wide and will take most swags with poles, the one you're looking at will be too narrow with the sides of the swag and poles hanging over the edge of the stretcher, which reduces the headroom inside the swag, Regards Frank.
P.S. My stretcher is an OZtrail Mega Stretcher 235cm long X 100cm wide x 65cm high, rated to 150kgs.

I have swagged it with temp around zero but not -12.

I just think its crazy using sleeping bags when most of the time you can use every square inch of your swag.

I brought a cheap swag 10 years ago , my kids still use it today.
I upgraded to a BURKE and WILLS SIMPSON swag , best move I ever made.
I love the room and free standing of it . I too went out brought sheets and a deluxe expensive doona fou pillows and life is grand
Now I have converted 4 mates from various sleeping contraptions and one who fell from his ladder on his roof top tent No names Greg

The only thing I would change from my current set up would be TVAN or Conqueror camper trailers ... so the wife will come
