And the damage....we just figured it was best leaving the damaged half sitting on the roof rack till we pack up this arvo
First time for today......the supawing has had it's wings clipped
Today is the sixth day in a row we have set it up on the beach.....same way everyday using one rope and sand peg along six small steel pegs through the feet on the poles......come back from a paddle and the part of the awning running across the back of the defender was on top of the car
Grrrrrr
We did set up in a different spot, the sand is probably softer but the wind is not as strong as the other days.....
A quick search and the manufacturers sells spares so the are on there way.....
Will have to live with half an awning.....good thing we are going home tomorrow.

Time for some good sand pegs.

Ouch - good to hear they sell spares though.
Well I can safely say it won't happen to the Hannibal awning. If it was to blow back on the roof it would mean the whole Defender is going to roll over![]()

Bugger! A mate had this happen with his Foxwing. Luckily Oztent after-market support is very good, and they sorted him out. He's now armed with better knowledge and a few extra spares![]()
had my foxwing do this to me at fraser a while back broke 2 of the pivot knuckles like in your pic. Got spares for free through ARB as i was pretty ****ed off and just how easy it broke considering there was barely any wind, it was simple to repair but i no longer trust it and have barely used it since.
I must say it looks beautiful in your pic, shame the awning broke!
Bugger - but at least you can easily get parts and they are repairable.
When setting up on sand I would recommend sand pegs for the pole feet as well (steel pegs just don't cut it in sand) and also putting a rope of some of the other poles for insurance. In windy conditions, I would even use guy ropes as insurance as 12.5 square metres of canvas can put some real pressure on componentry when the wind hits it.
I'm sure the SupaWing will be supa again soon and you'll have shade at the back again.
Cheers,
Franz
Oztent/Rhino sells sand bags for about $100 a set for the Foxwing. I used 50c reusable shopping bags instead :-). Seemed to work pretty well.
