Fridge not working
Gday all, I have an old 90 litre Electrolux 3 way fridge. The freezer section is working fine on gas ,240 and 12 volt, but the fridge is not working at all. Could this be the thermostat? It appears to be in the fridge part. Any suggestions welcome.

Hi,
Doesn't the freezer compartment sit in the top of the fridge, allowing the cold to drift down on the rest of the fridge's contents?
I'm some what puzzled by how yours must be setup.
cheers

You could try turning it upside down and leaving it for an hour or two, this seems to work on household fridges and gets them working again, so it might be worth a try with yours

I'd be keen for a solution to this too. Mine worked great one trip, and then would not cool the next. (Running on gas)
They seem simple, can't work out what happened... :what:

Is it in a van? Or freestanding? I would try shaking it at various angles, let it sit for an hour, then try again. The 3-way ones can need the gas to be mixed. Left for long enough it will separate. I am guessing a bit, but I imagine that could cause some weird symptoms if the gas separates.

Yup, absorption fridges (as generally used in caravans & boats, run on LPG) can fractionate. It is how they are designed to run. The 2 parts of the liquid are split by the heat applied by the LPG flame or the electric heater. The refrigerating part (Ammonia for e.g.) then passes through the evaporator, cooling the fridge. The absorber follows a separate route to the recombination chamber where the 2 fluids become mixed again.
Turning these fridges upside down & even giving them a shake will usually recombine the fluids so it'll work again.
