LED strip lights for inside tent/awning

We rented a camper trailer last year and it came with a flexible LED strip light, about 750mm long and backed on canvas that could be unrolled and velcro-d to the inside poles of tents/ awnings etc.

Now have a tent and searching for same, but technology seems to have moved on a little - i cant find this type anymore.

Has anyone got any recommendations/ links for an LED strip light that would suit?

I've seen that you can now get LEDs on a 5m roll that you wire yourself and cut to length. Happy to go this route if thats the state of play, though a bit fiddly... interested to hear how much is enough to give good (but not blinding) light inside?

    Cheers, Sam

I have two LED light strips in a Velcro pocket......they just fold up with the canvass.

I brought them from springers low voltage......If I was handy with a sewing machine it wouldn't be too hard to make.

We've got a 1M length of this type of LED strip in our rooftop tent.

Plenty of light, but not too bright. We run it off a small Lithium Ion battery that we charge up every few days.

Yeah thats the stuff. Crikey thats cheaper than Rays Outdoors ($35/m)

My tent is 2.6m wide - perhaps that'll be too much light? At that price i'll buy a roll and give it a try ...

Get a remote control on/off, mode, and dimmer control then you can dial up whatever brightness you wish.
See here RF Wireless Remote Controller Mini LED Strip Light Dimmer Caravan Camper | eBay

Make sure the LED Stripy you buy is dimmable - this is the one I bought and works well http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/140871460...84.m1497.l2649

Some time ago I went to a shop clearence auction and they were selling these LED display lights they use in jewelry cabinets, same size as a flouro tube with 30 leds and some half size ones with 15 leds, they came with a transformer to plug into 240v, much like a down light, I wanted some LED's for my shed and as no one else wanted them I got a box load for $1 each, long story short they finished up no good for the shed as the light was kinda shadowed from each LED so I put them in back of shed, I originally thought they were AC like down light so never botherd with them, one evening I was scratching around and piched one up and low and behold the sticker said 12vdc, imchecked them on a battery one sure enough they worked further tests revealed they draw .14amp each, so now there my new campsite light, 6 of them around the campsite on a 7ah battery lasts ages and the half size one I have mounted on the top inside read door of the Disco, there a bit bulky to wrap up with a tent but fit perfectly inside a piece of 30mm conduit for traveling..

I bought the 5 m roll off eBay less than $ 30 I think and recommend it, it's got 3m double sided tape on the back that seems to be holding up good, I've got a strip the across under the bonnet one in the cargo and I used some timber molding about 1m long with loops either end and they just hang in the gazebo or tent each one has a lead and run them off a small moto battery
