PVC water bladders - are they any good?
I've seen the PVC water bladders at ARB and I read somewhere that even after flushing with bi-carbonate of soda it still retained the yucky plastic taste.
Does anyone use these or recommend them.
Fitting a stainless steel tank isn't an option for me or carrying a plastic jerry because the space I want to put the bladder in is confined in the D3.
Your comments would be appreciated.
Thanks Chris

Use rain water if possible. Tap water has so many chemicals added that it causes the bad taste in storage tanks if left for more than a couple of days.
I always use rain water for Tea/coffee and drinking when travelling, and keep separate containers for washing water that can be refilled from any source.

We borrowed one from a friend last year, no real taste problem.
It was great for space as it just sat on & moulded its self to the shape of the rear floor between the kids' feet.
The only down side is the $$$ to buy one!!

PS, the bladders work great. They are expensive to purchase, however as they empty take up less and less space. Then when empty are not such a hassle to store and carry. 8)

Thanks for your help and advice.
Matt, I'll give floatpac a call since they are local to get a comparison on price to the ones I saw at ARB.

ARB sell the Floatpac PVC bladders. I went down on Saturday and saw a universal 35lt (cost $140) which would fit behind the front seats on the floor if you don't have any passengers. Another option was to get a 20lt that was suited to a Patrol rear qtr but I was shocked at the price - $230 8O the reason given for the huge price difference was it has more accessories and more labour to make than the universal tank (this information came direct from Floatpac).
After some correspondance with Floatpac on a "made to order tank" I'm going to use a plastic Willow (two 5 lts or a 10lt) from K-Mart for about $10-$15 until I can justify the convenience of the bladder . My trips are only weekenders at this stage so this should surfice.

I also use the "Bottled" (Mountain Dew, Spring Water) water containers. Get the 10lit or 15lit, can be as cheap as $7 at times. They are hardy enough to survive long desert trips, pack very well. And when empty crush down to a easy stored slab.
