The fan not cycling with the compresser is not ideal.Give them a call about it and see what they say.

An easy wiring mod may fix the issue, although i realise it is under warranty.

Another problem, apart from the power draw,is the fan will tend to clog up whatever it is cooling, and itself, with dirt, fluff, and dust if it runs all the time.

    Fridge update.

Firstly it looks like I have got it wrong and the fan does only run when the compressor is running.

Two reasons I got it wrong. The compressor being very silent I can't hear it.
Now I am used to my Engle using it only as a fridge.
This new fridge having a fridge and freezer compartments, I have been running the freezer at -22.
This of course is causing the compressor to run a fair bit. I can't hear the compressor but can hear the fan, making me think it is running all the time.

Now add to this the instruction manual which is the usual Chinese translation to English.

There is a list of thing that are covered under the heading NOT A MALFUNCTION.

I am now quoting one of these
"The fan in the power supply runs all the times."

The above s why I thought the fan was continuously running.

I have just found a feature that I really love. The remote has an icon that appears when the compressor is running.

As for the transit bag not being a good fit, I have just realised that it is not the correct bag for my fridge. I will contact them tomorrow.

I am really starting to warm (is this a backward pun?) to this fridge.

What I plan to do this summer holiday is park both Disco's side by side and only use the new fridge as fridge only, no freezer.

When adding a slab of beer I will put half in each. When I go to one to get a beer I will also go to the other and open the door for the same amount of time.

I will record power consumption over a couple of days.

    Watch this space.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

They're a top fridge.. Also sold by Primus (Companion) using Red trim.

Now replaced by the Primus "Mammoth" range.

Running the freezer at -22 is probably not necessary, and will use a lot more power than needed.

Actually most products except ice cream freeze well at around -15.

What lets the Engle down is the quality of the insulation in the walls.

    Just my 2cents worth

    An early update
I turned in on last night in the shed on 240 volts to cool the cabinet.

I put it in the car for the first time this morning as I am heading off on holidays tomorrow

I then loaded the the large side with meat from our deep freeze, which is around minus 18.

I then filled the smaller side with un refrigerated beer and soft drink.

This took place at about 11 am. I had the fridge plugged into the mains for most of the day as it did not like 12 volts which I will explain later.

The top temp today at my place was 32.6 at 5.30 pm, but for most of the day it was around 30, not overly hot.

Now for most part of the day the freezer temp was minus ten, even though it was filled with minus 18 food and the fridge did not want to come below minus ten either.

All this time I was running the compressor at fast speed which I thought was supposed to boost cooling.

I did check the current draw and it was 3.5 amps, one more than my engle, but running at fast speed I expected this.
I actually expected more so was happy here, but was also expecting more in the cooling department, so very unhappy there.

Now for the 12 volt side. I think there is a fault in the electronics. It offers three option for low voltage shut off. I chose 11.8 volts.
I have a brand new aux battery, purchased 3 days ago, fitted it this morning.

The fridge kept shutting down due to low voltage, even though it had 12.6 to 12.7 volts engine off. The fridge would run with engine running and voltage in the high 13's but would display a low 12's value.

I have overcome this short term by changing the cutoff to the 10 volt setting, but my confidence in this is to the point that I have repacked the car to include my Honda generator, a device I purely own for power black outs, as I despise the things for camping purposes.

So to sum up. It is early days yet as I have not yet left mains supply, but I am really starting to wish that I had purchased a second Engle.

Price wasn't the deal breaker on this, it was only $300 cheaper than Engle, I really thought this was a great product and it may prove me wrong, but I am having huge doubts.

I will report latter after my holiday.

PS. I just went and checked the temps. Now minus 14 and plus five, at 11 pm with an ambient of 25 degrees.
Now considering that the food placed in the freezer 12 hours ago was minus 18 does not give me a lot of confidence.

Had today being a high 30's temp I wonder???
