What other choices of cot are available?
airbeds a no-no?
Hi guys I've been using a Campout swag for a number of years and I love it. In the last few years I've been using it on a camp bed cos I've become an old softie and sleeping on the ground has lost its ?hardman? appeal. Truth to tell it kills my back to get up off the ground in the morning.
The bed I've been using is a standard army cot which is narrower and shorter than the swag base which is 213cm x 81cm, consequently the swag overhangs in all directions.
I was wondering if a bigger bed would make it easier to get the swag nice and taught? What size beds are you using under your swags? Is it worth me modifying an army cot to make the length and width fit my swag? Any thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated.
TIA

If you don't mind spending the coin, Kulkyne make a swag on rack thingo that's about as comfortable as you're ever gonna get.

Pedro,
the army cot is about the most robust thing out here and so far I've made a point of avoiding those huge inflatable mattress things if that's what you mean.
BB,
That looks the part but to be honest the one I've got is the business and I'm not really looking to change it.
You can buy Jumbo size stretchers I used to set my swag on a stretcher that was just over a metre wide and it was extremely comfortable and not a pain in the back to get up and out of, Regards Frank.
Sorry for little hi jack...but
Ive got a double swag which is just for me (coz im a fat bastard). Do they make a cot/stretcher that size without a bar/pole up the middle? Would be good to be off the ground i think in some situations. Thanks for help in advance...
Cheers Rod

Hey! I'm a fat bastard too, this stretcher doesn't have the Bar in the middle that bends you like a Pretzel, it is a good comfortable heavy duty (120Kgs.), I just noticed the sticker that was on the stretcher next to my monitor. Size: 235x100x65cm, heavy duty frame of steel, I always used a standard size self inflating mattress underneath the swag to take out the curve side to side you get with a stretcher, Regards Frank.
