My damper came out brown on top and had a crust so I would imagine a pie would come out the same way

I have one of the marine ones.... works great. Definitely works like a proper oven. Won't leave your pie soggy at all.
They sound like a great idea - just a question though relevent to where it is mounted - how hot does the outside skin get after a full heating use?
The only thing that gets hot is the door
The rest of the unit barely gets warm
I see Pat Callinan has one too.
Hi,
We have one in the back of my wife's Pajero, GREAT for heating up those little party pies and sausage rolls for lunch when travelling around, used it lots on a months trip around the Vic High Country, don't, lamb roast etc [emoji106] Definitely get the bigger Marine one, we love ours [emoji16][emoji108]

Apologies for slow reply. 100% get one. I have the Marine One which is the way to go. I have experimented over the last few weeks. I have cooked a roast to perfection. Was really juicy and not overdone. I had it on around 160 degrees for a few hours. It was a 1kg roast.
I have since bought Trays from a thread on face book. I can find the link if someone is interested.
On the weekend around 11 O'clock on a perfect Sunday to wash the car. I thought.... oven.. So i put in some party pies on the tray set it going for an hour while i washed the car.. They were delicious.
I highly recommend them. Great for putting in pies driving to your destination and pulling up to the envy of your mates when you pull out a nice hot pie..
