    Something to consider is that some of the suggestions like spotlighting and making leaf animals are things that can usually only be done when out camping.
    I think they would be the ones to concentrate on.
    It helps to make the camping a special event because it allows them to see things and do things they can't do elsewhere.

    we also let the kids just be kids while up the bush

    something they dont much chance to do these days.......

    all my kids have always found thier own things to do up the bush

    Interesting where this has gone.

    The kids love going in the bush with us and they are never bored. Fishing is something we do and they love it. As is a good camp fire with marshmellows. Hunting for insects and getting wet at any opportunity.

    I really don't agree with kids staying indoors in front of the TV or computer so more often than not ours are outside making mud pancakes or building a cubby.

    I was aiming for this to be an 'activity' ideas thread (not necessarily just in terms of my kids), so keep the ideas coming....

    we also play fire of truth

    we go around the campfire asking the kids questions about silly stuff
    and the rule is simple no telling lies

    you'd be amazed what they come out with

    • Bikes
    • glow sticks big plug for them,
    • marshmellows
    • foot ball
    • dirt toys, dump truck ect
    • colouring in pens and lots of paper.
    • pancake mix
    • storey books
    Our two 7 and 4 don't get bored (am I touching wood)

    Its pretty easy with good kids
