"Touch Wood", we have never had creepy crawleys in our swag, and have been sleeping out for years.

Had a prob with a cockroach in bed in a motel in Sth. Qld last year

A good mozzie net around the swag is the go though. Mozzies singing in the ears when you're trying to get to sleep is not good.

My mum was bitten by a camel spider when l was a boy and we were living in Libya when dad was stationed there whilst serving in the RAF around 1962. Nasty bite required medical treatment she was bandaged for a while

I once camped near Laila lake in Saudi about 160Km south of Riyadh.
We knew it was a camel spider area so slept in the car and put the kids bags outside.
When we reloaded the car in the morning a camel spider jumped out of my son's bag. Well he squealed like a girl, frightening the spider so much it slid up the inside of the drivers seat on my 81 RRC. There was a quick evacuation and much spraying of insecticide but we never found the spider.

When we went camping I found it good to rake the area where we were pitching the tent as several scorpions usually lived in the gravel.
Every morning I would shake the shoes and move the fridge. Sometimes we would have 3-4 scorpions under the fridge looking for moisture.
Never got any in the tent, however my son recently was bitten by one in his garage in Kellyville, sydney. Irony eh!!
    Regards Philip A

Don't go getting all PC on me. Anybody/thing, somebody/thing, was not a derogatory comment, just a simple fact.

I can recall as a cub (scout) over in Riyadh having a few desert campouts.
Some of the American kids used to put scorpions in a empty tin on a fire and try to get 'em to fight each other.
    Wasn't a great success.

I suspect those Yank kids are now running Gitmo !

Ah but Brian, unlike a vast number of the great unwashed, I actually love my wife and cherish the time we spend together. And, not surprisingly, the feelings are reciprocated.

Do they have camel spiders at Hummocky Beach ?
