hey good idead my only concern would be the weight
Gday
I thought I might post up some pics of my latest project. When I rolled my blue Defender I had a couple of spare buckled rims. Then a mate gave me a bent Sunny and then another gave me another
I've been meaning to start it for ages but haven't got round to doing it
I'll be honest it's not completely Landrover one of the rims is off a Gutluxbut you can't see the six stud pattern so it's all good
I'll be borrowing a mate of mines welder in the near future to finish it off
Here's the beginning:
With the top on, I'll be welding handles of some description onto it so it's removable, upon saying that I guess I should put a flu in as well
And down inside. I've knocked the centres out of two rims. The two Landrover centres are on the bottom together, then the Sunny centres are knocked together to provide better air flow.
You can't see it in the pics but the main fire pot is only 3 rims high. The bottom rim has a door cut in it, that will be hinged. This will be for the baked spuds![]()

Phew! I thought the 110 had caught fire when I read the title Jock
Looking good though!

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
Weight isn't to much of an issue, it's not really for travelling. If I go bush it's usually with mates and they have flat trays so I'll just stick it on the back of theres
My old man made one out of truck rims when I was born
I'll have to get some pictures of it sometime, that is a bloody good heater. Fill it with decent blocks of wood and it burns for two days, fill it with radiator pine, open the vent and it glows red
JC if that was the case I reckon you would find me somewhere under the closest bridge, not sure how I'd cope losing another one![]()
Ive got 2 we use regularly.
A smaller one made from a tractor front rim and a bigger one made from a rear tractor rim and truck rim.
Dont use the bigger one that often,a mate threw over a tonne of my good jarrah rings into it one nite whilst we consumed copious amounts of homebrew,we wernt cold.
Make sure it can draw plenty of air from the bottom or it will smoke heaps, also makesure it is able to loose its coals/ash at the bottom or that too will choke it down.Nothing like a nice hot smoke free fire outside at this time of the year.

I made the 1 millionth AULRO post
I made one from an old enamel washing machine drum and 3 pieces of steel fence post.
All it needed was a quick spot grind to remove the enamel for the legs to be welded on.
Literally 20 minutes and it was done!!

They had a beauty at the Caravan and Camping show.
Similar size to a 9kg gas bottle, all packed into a carry bag,had hotplate and a rack for a camp oven.It was so good at dissapating its heat you could put your hand over the top of the chimney.
Called a PIG or HOT PIG or something. Its on the list to make one for the camper trailer.
