What do these things look like? Are they plastic like the Waeco or metal?
Anyone belonging to Aulro interested in good quality compressor fridges?
I have many contacts in Asia thru my business connections & came across a Chinese compressor fridge manufacturer who produces fridges that compare very favourably with Waeco etc, but at half the price.
I am an electronics engineer, so the first thing I did after buying a 40l model was to run some real world tests.
The performance was very impresive with a 100AH deep cycle battery maintaining 0deg with fully loaded 40L fridge for 20Hrs before battery voltage dropped to 11.75V.
The compressors use 3 phase inverter technology with soft start & fully electronic temperature control with digital display. They operate on 12 or 24VDC with optional 240V supply.
There are 40L, 50L, 60L & 80L compressor models available with prices starting at US$300. There is a US$80 China customs charge which covers 10 units & I also expect some Australian clearance charges + GST.
Anyone interested please let me know as it would not be economical to import unless we can get at least 10 off to cover freight, Chinese Customs & Australian Customs cost covered. I'm expecting the 40L fridges to land at approx A$450

Do they have a warranty, if it breaks can it be repaired under warranty in Australia or is it return to China, some pics would be nice, esp. of the compressor area, Regards Frank.
Manufacturing company offers a 12 month warranty on any manufacturing defects. Major problems such as compressor failure would require shipping unit back to manufacturer (they will pay shipping both ways). For minor problems such as temperature control module they will ship parts free to Australia.
I will try to get some information & specs on compressor.
Cabinet is metal with 55mm polyurethane foam insulation. Clips are SSteel & handles are heavy duty moulded type. Plastic coated wire baskets are supplied for both compartments & zippered cover also supplied. Fridge can be set to -18C for full freezer operation and there is automatic voltage cutout @11.2V to protect battery.

Hi bruiser69, They sound interesting. What about the 240v option? Do you have any dimensions on the 50L? You said you would need to get a minimum of 10 units to make it worthwhile. would that be all the same or a mix of sizes?
That looks very similar to the "Engel" fridge advertised in the current repco catalogue at $799, including transit bag and free camping light....

The 240V power supply is approx A$50. The 40L model has been dropped from range and size is now 45L with next size 55L. Dimensions of 45L 690 x 490 x 535.
Minimum order quantity is now 20 units of same size, so may not be woth doing, especially as Repco is apparently selling Engel fridges of this size for $799 with full Australian warranty & service!
I have one of these units, now about 3 years old. Done quite a bit of outback touring including the bone jarring gunbarrel highway. The only down side is now my transformer has blown up and needs to be replaced. I feel the power consumption is a little higher than some of the brand names but I havnt owned one of those. I run mine at 4 degrees off the 2nd battery and havnt had any battery problems travelling the way I do. I would rate it at 7/10. I purchased mine from ebay.
cheers
