Jackaroo Camping Equipment - is it any good?

My son and I were in one of the large department stores this afternoon browsing the camping gear (as you do when you have none ). I got talking to a chap who was working there who told me to hold off buying any stuff for a couple of weeks as they were going to have all of the Jackaroo items on sale.

What is your opinion of Jackaroo as a brand? Do they make quality products - ie sturdy, reliable, easy to operate etc?

    Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you're looking at I think. I wouldn't buy their tents or sleeping bags as they would end up being a false economy - cheap but won't last. Their stoves are probably ok.

Hmmm, thanks Hoadie. Think I'll be a bit more circumspect about purchasing their stuff then - appreciate your comments.

Outlaw - yeah! That would be great, thanks. A bit of a trek from where we are, but we could combine it with a trip to a theme park or something for the kids .

Nan & I have a Jackaroo double camp bed. It is the one with the expanding base and air mattress. It came in a neat pack with the air pump and bits. It's really comfy, but only time will tell if it lasts

we've got one of their larger tents, its good for light duty camping but I wouldnt want to be in a huge storm.

5+years on and the botoms starting to flake but we paid bucklies for it so I'm not complaining.

Most of our gear is Jackaroo sourced from Kmart and its served us well. One of our tents even survived a 100km/hr dive of a roof rack. If your an infrequent camper like us then their gear will be fine.

If your gonna be using it heaps then definitely aim higher.

I just bought their Stove/Oven units which were on special from KMart at less than $200!! So put it on layby. Well built units, not shabby at all. But will tell when I start using it.
