Thread: Ebay Fridges

Agreed on the size. I don't want an 80L! Still need to fit clothes and sleeping gear in! Also a big fat solar panel now by the looks of it!

I made a spreadsheet to check different scenarios of power usage and allow for different usage patterns and power requirements during the day to at night. Here's my estimate on what my battery charge will look like:



It's just a guide, but it's good to play around with the numbers and see what different scenarios look like. Spreadsheet attached for anyone else who wants to check it out. The grey cells are for your input. The rest updates automatically.

I've purchased the 65 litre dual zone one. Hopefully receive it middle of next week. I'll do some current draw checks with my multi-meter and report back.

So first update.... Fridge has arrived. Sizing confusion reigns. Here's the real deal.

1. If you look at the ad for the 65L one I bought:

New 3in1 Caravan Motor Home Camping Fishing Fridge Refrigerator Portable Freezer | eBay

It says under the title, "***BEWARE OF OVERSTATED CAPACITIES BY OTHER SELLERS!***". The "65L" fridge I got is exactly the same as every one of the 80L fridges advertised on ebay. The box mine came in says 80L. The fridge itself has 80L printed on it. I measured the inside compartments and I got 65L. (Actually 63, but it was rough - so 65 seems right).

I'm now 99% sure that all of the 80L (and 65L) fridges on ebay are the same regardless of what brand/sticker they have on them. Just buy the cheapest one. I'm quite happy about that, because I paid less for my 65L than all the 80L ones on ebay.

2. External dimensions vary. My "65L" one had bigger external dimensions than most of the 80L ones. Same fridge. Some of them measure the main frame box size. Others include handles, hinges, etc, so be careful!

Next update will hopefully include some power/temperature stats. I've ordered some cheap power meters although I might not have them until next week.

Also, for lol's: The manual says it can only be connected to a 15A outlet on 220V.

Many thanks for the excellent thread & posts on the Easy Cool, its interesting that no real "don't touch with a 40ft pole' messages come through anywhere.

I like the dual lids on the latest models which isolate each compartment when opening, a definite plus & one of the few that have it.

Wonder how the owners are finding them a few months down the track. ??

This buying a new fridge that will do the job in 30C + ambient is getting harder the more I look.

Mines still going also, but I wish I was out bush more to use it. It's spent a lot of time in the shed!
