I gave the eBay fridge the swerve because they are simply too big and are no longer selling the smaller size it seems but I literally picked up a 50l wako off the side of the road fitted a new thermistor and it works a treat

Literally? I'd like to see that. haha

Also, I agree, the standard ebay fridge that is being discussed here is humongous! Size concerns are valid.

I've had my ebay 80l for a couple of years now, and it's still going strong.
(I also have a 60l ARB fridge too).
The Easycool is great, had it on the beach and out bush for a week or so at a time, works well, doesn't miss a beat.

Negatives - it is big, and being tall, rather than long, it's not easy to get stuff at times. It does have a reasonable amp draw on it, but if you're battery/solar system is set up properly and decent, and you're not sitting for days, this isn't an issue.
The Easycool normally goes in the back of the Rangie, and the ARB goes in the Disco.

Love my ARB, it's a great design, really low draw, and robust. It's about twice the price of my ebay one though. (Fortunately I don't pay retail)

    Ebay fridge

Just about to buy a easycool (chinese) couldn't be too bad after my waeco experience - 3 thermistors in 5 years with hardly any work (2-3 times a year). Specs seem okay.

Still goes great. It is in the back of the Disco a lot and gets used on weekends about once a month. About half of those weekends include rough tracks and a lot of dirt roads. I dread to think how much dust must go through the fans, but no problems to report.

The plastic lid has ever so slightly warped from being in direct sunlight, but not enough to worry about. A few millimetres. We have now put it inside the insulation cover that came with it so its not in direct sunlight, so that could be considered operator error anyway.

2 weeks ago we went to the high country and I recorded power usage. We were parked at a camp site for a total of 20 daylight hours in mild weather (max 20*C?) and 20 night hours and it used 460 watt hours. Fridge full and some ice cream in the freezer.

^i was trying to justify a new solar panel. Bought a 140W panel this week.

My fridge is often in the back of my 101 which sucks in a lot of dust which also gets into the inside of the mechanism of the fridge and I normally clean the fan and coils etc after each trip as they seem to easily get coated with red dust.

I was thinking of making up some filters but an worried about them clogging up.

My fridge is still running great but I haven't used it since Christmas when it worked really well.

How do you clean it out? Compressed air?
