looking good there mate! very tidy

just a couple of notes, i notice in your first software pic, you are at 101kpa, at what im guessing is idle revs? this should be in the range of 35-40kpa, as the 101kpa is atmospheric pressure (pretty much sea level), where i am in Ballarat, it is 96kpa or so, due to the higher altitude

i can think of only one reason for this abnormal reading, your MAP sensor line comes from the port on top of the throttle, this is closed at idle, so the vacuum advance module didnt add unwanted advance to the ignition at idle

since that is all taken care of by the ignition map now, you should choose a port that has vacuum at all times, in my setup, i have chosen one on the left hand side of the plenum, you might need to use a t piece

also your ignition map is 'interesting' lol, here is an example of one you might like to try as a starting point, i used it on my 3.5 and it was very smooth

it could use a little more vacuum advance, but sort that out on the dyno if ur not too confident, oh and change that 0 in the bottom right corner to 32 (i sourced this from LR4x4, very helpful forums)

    Thanks JazzaD1

I will move the vac line to the other side of the plenum. I know the point your taking about. Thanks.

The map that I down loaded was the one supplied. Straight from the autosports web site I found out. (43 deg is a s***load of advance for a rover V8 LOL)

Thanks for the shot of your map, I will give it a try tomorrow, but will get it sorted on the dyno.

    Thanks Gavin

43deg isnt necessarily too much, it depends on the location, in light cruise, and part throttle areas, it can really improve driveability and fuel economy to have more advance in those areas, as the engine isnt under any great load and needs a bit more advance to get a 'complete' burn, of course im simplifying here, but there is tons of information on both lr4x4 and msefi.com websites, although it can cause a headache after a while lol

    Hi JazzaD1 & Gavin
interesting posts, I'm rebuilding a 4.6 for my RRC and want to use MegaSquirt for both the ignition (EDIS8) and for the fuel injection with wide band Lambda sensors. Its going to be a couple of months before I'm at the stage of setting that up but was wondering on your thoughts about the best system/vendor to use. EFIExtra sell the MSII, coil packs etc for a Rover V8 but Trigger Wheels also sell a complete package for the Rover V8 but with the MicroSquirt ECU instead of the MSII. From what I can work out the Microsquirt is a sub-type of MegasquirtII. So the question is which one should I get?
    Thanks
    Nick

my EDIS module is mounted on the left hand side, next to the charcoal canister

PS. i have since re-arranged the plug leads much neater
is that lpg injection i see?

Did you originally have a mud flinger on your crank pulley? The reason I ask is my P76 donk does and if I could continue to run the slinger it would be great. Did you have one and have troubles running one with the trigger wheel?

I have now got the megajolt instaled and up and running. The RR starts a lot better and runs a lot better when cold (in the morning on initial start up). The instal is pretty straight forward with no real problems at all.

I chose to mount the coils on the drivers side of the plenum (nice and high and dry) and mounted the EDIS where the original coil was (as power was easy to pick up here etc).

I have installed the MAP that came with the megajolt but will put it on a mates dyno and fine tune it soon, but the difference it has made is fantastic, highly recommend the change from dizzy to megajolt, you wont be disappointed.

I have posted some pics of the coils, trigger wheel & sensor, EDIS and PC program, along with a couple of up dated pics since lockers, axles, CVs etc etc were installed.

Also got my play tires at the start of the week. I have a boys weekend away next week from Walhalla to Jamieson so the river crossings should be a good test for the megajolt. I will post up some pics of the Rangie pulling the Nissans along when I get back.

    Cheers Gavin

Do you run the mud slinger on your engine? Bit blurry in the photo but it looks as if there is one on there. Did you get your trigger wheel through triggerwheels.com?

i did originally, but removed it as it was going to foul against the timing cover with the extra thickness of the trigger wheel, or it was bloody close anyway, i havent noticed any problems to do with that in the nearly 2 years i have had the trigger wheel on
